Apple TV+’s new series, Pluribus, from the creator of Breaking Bad, Vince Gilligan, has become the most-watched show in the service’s history.
The new show had a bigger launch than the previous record holder, Severance Season 2, becoming the most-watched Apple TV drama debut globally. It premiered in over 100 countries and saw the most viewers in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Mexico, India, and France.
The first week of streaming saw 6.4 million hours of the new show Pluribus watched in the U.S., according to early data from Luminate. This put the show at number four among all original series on streaming platforms for the week.
As a total streaming fanatic, I wasn’t surprised to hear the numbers were huge for the new show! Nielsen’s ratings confirmed everyone was tuning in, tracking how many minutes people watched those first two episodes over the weekend. Apparently, it got so busy that the Apple TV app actually crashed for a bit right after it launched – now that’s a popular premiere!
Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn and opened with two episodes on Friday, November 7.
Matt Cherniss, the head of programming at Apple TV, highly praised the series Pluribus. He said the experience of keeping the show a secret was incredibly enjoyable and worthwhile. He was immediately impressed with Vince’s original idea and has been amazed by how brilliantly it’s been executed. Apple TV is thrilled audiences around the world are becoming captivated by this clever, insightful, and darkly humorous show, which features a fantastic cast led by Rhea Seehorn, and they are eager for viewers to uncover more of the mystery.
