Vin Diesel Claims FAST X: PART II Sequel Coming By March 2026, Wants Dwayne Johnson to Return as Hobbs

As a long-time fan of the Fast and Furious franchise, I can’t help but feel like I’ve hit the jackpot with this latest news about Fast X: Part 2! The idea that Hobbs might be back, played by none other than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is just too exciting to wrap my head around.

Some TV shows and films have a strong grip on us that they just won’t let go. Shows like “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Young & the Restless” might outlive us all, and when it comes to action movies, not many franchises can match the bewildering events and endurance of “The Fast and the Furious.” It started as a street racing series and evolved into people driving cars in space over the course of ten films. Now, another installment is on its way, provisionally named “Fast X: Part 2,” and Vin Diesel hints on Instagram that it will arrive by March 2026, with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reprising his role as Hobbs. At the moment, there’s no definite word from Universal Pictures about any of the above regarding a Fast 20 movie. The film isn’t scheduled for release at this time. We’ll just have to wait and see if it comes to fruition. Vin Diesel mentioned on Instagram that Comcast wants two more films to conclude the franchise. We strongly feel that there will be a Fast 20 eventually, although if it ends with thirteen movies, spinoffs are likely in store. As for Dwayne Johnson returning as Hobbs in the Fast X sequel… that would certainly make things interesting!

For many years, Johnson and Diesel had a long-standing dispute which they claim has been resolved for the benefit of their fans. However, there have been concerns about Vin’s reported disruptive actions on set. Johnson is slated to appear in a “Fast & Furious” spinoff movie as Hobbs, a role that appears independent from the main franchise and likely won’t involve Diesel. According to Johnson, this Hobbs spinoff is intended to pave the way for “Fast X: Part 2,” and if Diesel’s statements hold true, it should be released around 2025.

Differently put, despite the fact that The Rock’s fast-paced movies suggest otherwise, he has numerous other roles lined up independently. This makes it seem unlikely that he would revisit a complicated scenario unless necessary. However, if they decide to set aside their personal disagreements behind the scenes, their on-screen chemistry might be revived for more enjoyable interactions. We’ll have to wait and see if Vin Diesel’s comments are merely banter or if there’s any truth to them, as only time (and possibly a public statement) can confirm this.
