Viewers Question Anne Hathaway’s Appearance at Oscars as Face Looks Different

At the 98th Academy Awards, Anne Hathaway turned heads with her radiant and youthful appearance. She walked the red carpet on March 15th while promoting the upcoming sequel to the popular 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada. The new movie continues the story of the original, which was famously based on a former assistant’s experiences working with Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

In a fitting moment for her career, Anne Hathaway shared the stage with the legendary Dame Anna during the awards ceremony to present the award for Best Costume Design.

The two playfully acknowledged their history together, with Dame Anna offering her typically reserved and slightly critical opinion of Hathaway’s outfit for the night.

Hathaway wore a black, floral strapless gown by Valentino, completing the look with long opera gloves and jewel-heeled sandals by Roger Vivier.

I have to admit, while everyone was talking about her amazing outfit, a lot of the conversation online quickly turned to how flawless her skin looked. On X, formerly Twitter, people started wondering if she’d had any work done, like plastic surgery, to get that incredibly smooth appearance. Honestly, some people even said she looked almost completely different from how she used to look in her older movies. I saw one post asking straight up, ‘Has Anne Hathaway had plastic surgery?’ It was a bit much, but it definitely got people talking!

Online speculation about Anne Hathaway’s appearance has been widespread, but many fans have come to her defense, pointing out how great she looks and that she still shows a lot of emotion in her expressions. Some people playfully suggested she resembles a mix of other famous actresses, while others wondered if she’d had Botox. Hathaway’s team hasn’t officially responded to the rumors, but the actress has often talked about her commitment to skincare and a healthy lifestyle.

One of the funniest moments of the night happened when Anne Hathaway and Anna Wintour were onstage together, playfully referencing Wintour’s famously stern character from The Devil Wears Prada. Hathaway gave a brief speech about the importance of costume design, then jokingly asked Wintour what she thought of her Valentino dress. Wintour, staying in character, completely ignored the question and moved on to announcing the nominees, which got a huge laugh from the audience.

A new Devil Wears Prada movie is coming to theaters on May 1st, bringing back the original stars like Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci. The story catches up with Miranda Priestly as she deals with changes in the magazine world, while her former assistant, Emily Charlton, is now a leader at a luxury company. Anne Hathaway is back as Andy Sachs, now a features editor at Runway, and finds herself working with Miranda again.

Anne Hathaway has a packed year ahead, with several exciting films coming out. In April, she’ll star in the thriller Mother Mary, playing a famous musician dealing with personal struggles. Then, in July, she’ll appear in Christopher Nolan’s big-screen version of The Odyssey with Matt Damon. Later in the year, fans can catch her in the sci-fi thriller Flowervale Street alongside Ewan McGregor, and in October, she’ll lead the movie adaptation of the popular novel Verity. Plus, the long-awaited Princess Diaries 3 is also in the works. With five major films scheduled for release this year, Hathaway is having a major career moment and remains a prominent figure in both Hollywood and fashion.
