[VIDEO] Leaked D23 Teaser Trailer for ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Reveals Hoth-Like Planet and Pointy-Eared Zeb

As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast who’s been through the highs and lows of this galaxy far, far away, I must say, the anticipation for the Mandalorian movie is almost as intense as my desire to get a Wookiee co-pilot in real life (and I’ve tried everything from Chewbacca cosplay to training my pet cat Bantha).

By February 2023, Favreau and Filoni had finished writing the script for season 4 of “The Mandalorian”, however, production got postponed due to the 2023 strikes by the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA. Instead, Lucasfilm shifted their attention towards a “Mandalorian” movie. This movie was officially announced in January 2024 and filming started in California by August 2024.

As I, a solitary bounty hunter known as the Mandalorian, find myself tasked with capturing an enigmatic little creature named Grogu, I discover that our connection goes beyond the usual hunter-prey dynamic. Instead, I decide to safeguard him from perils lurking in this post-Empire cosmos, all while unraveling my own shifting place within this galaxy.

As a long-time fan of the franchise, I was thrilled to attend this year’s D23 event and witness the latest updates for the upcoming movie. One of the highlights of the event was the exclusive teaser trailer that was presented to us, the audience. Since then, I’ve been eagerly awaiting its release online, and I can finally say that it did not disappoint. The trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into the world of the movie, leaving me excited for what’s to come. You can check out the trailer below and join me in counting down the days until the movie hits theaters!

At D23, a sneak peek was unveiled showcasing Mando and Grogu gently tapping fingers together. Throughout the clip, Mando’s narration emphasized his discerning attitude towards assignments. The preview also included Babu Frick navigating a vessel while Grogu was aboard, a snowy landscape similar to Hoth with massive AT-AT walkers, as well as Zeb from Star Wars: Rebels, which excited the crowd immensely.

The film’s new logo was also unveiled. Principal photography, under the working title Thunder Alley, was originally scheduled to start in June 2024 in California and was expected to last 92 days. The production will involve around 54 cast members, 3,500 background extras, and 500 crew members. By early August, Favreau and Filoni announced that filming had already begun. The film will include the Anzellan species from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian Season 3, as well as a new version of the Razor Crest, which was destroyed in the show’s second season.
