Video Compares the Ridiculous Running Speeds of Marvel Characters

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that this video from Data Ball has sent me into a whirlwind of disbelief! Growing up with games like Super Mario Bros and Sonic the Hedgehog, I always thought I had a good grasp on speed in the gaming world. But apparently, the Marvel universe is a whole new level.

It’s common knowledge that characters like The Flash and Quicksilver are incredibly swift, it’s their defining trait. A YouTube video from Data Ball suggests that speed seems to be a recurring theme in the Marvel universe as well. It’s hard to verify the actual speeds of fictional characters, but this video presents some striking assertions. For instance, it claims Daredevil can run at approximately 84 km/hr or about 52 miles per hour. Keep in mind, while Daredevil is fit and his radioactive incident enhanced his senses, can running truly be considered a sense?

Watch the video below and then we can discuss the wildly overpowered characters afterward.

Hey there! As a fellow fan, let me tell you, some of these speed figures are mind-blowing. Now, being an American who’s not quite familiar with the metric system, I decided to convert the speeds for a better understanding. Would it be believable that Captain America could run 56 miles per hour? Absolutely, given the super soldier serum’s extraordinary capabilities. But Spider-Man running at 68.6 miles per hour? That’s only slightly slower than Thanos’ speed of 72 mph, and far behind Thor who can reach a staggering 119 mph. What I find fascinating is the significant leap in speed when we talk about Thor flying, reaching an incredible 767 mph!

For reference, a commercial airplane has a cruising speed of between 547 and 575 mph. Supersonic jets fly anywhere between 750 and 1500 mph. (767 is the speed of sound, aka “Mach 1.”) This is all to illustrate how frigging incredible it is that Iron Man Mark III armor can evidently fly at 2300 miles per hour, or nearly Mach 3. Quicksilver’s looking at Mach 10, and Iron Man Mark L suit cruises at Mach 50.

As a gamer, let me tell you, no matter how sleek or advanced your suit might be, it’s still built for a human. And even the swiftest vehicle ever made, the NASA X-43 experimental jet, could only reach speeds of about Mach 9.7. So, Mr. Stark, are you seriously saying that your tech can handle five times that speed? I’m not sure I believe it!

Anyway, I know this is all fictional but it’s absurd. But in a fun way.
