Venti to be unvoiced in Genshin Impact 5.6, but VA is confident about returning

As a dedicated gamer, I’m pumped up today! HoYoverse is about to spill the beans on Genshin Impact 5.6 during a live broadcast, and the buzz among fans is palpable, especially with Mondstadt, our starting point, making a comeback. However, there might be a bit of a letdown for some, as certain beloved characters won’t get their voices in the English dub due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike and the complex issues surrounding it.

Erika Harlacher-Stone, who lends her voice to Anemo Archon Venti, has mentioned on social media that the ‘tone-deaf bard’ will remain silent during the upcoming update. Translated, she expressed in a TikTok post: “I couldn’t work things out for 5.6 – the actor’s politics are quite frustrating – but I’ll be back soon.

She assured her fans that she has no plans to quit playing the game and hasn’t heard any rumors about being replaced. Instead, she’s diligently searching for a solution to come back to Genshin Impact.

In recent updates, HoYoverse has replaced three voice actors in Zenless Zone Zero 1.7 due to them being muted across several previous versions. It’s crucial to understand that these decisions are not made by the game developer itself, but rather by the recording studios they collaborate with. These studios can vary for each HoYoverse game, resulting in distinct policies and methods in dealing with such issues as strikes.

Among the many beloved characters in Genshin Impact, Venti stands out as one of the oldest and most widely adored. A shift in his voice actor might spark a commotion among the community. However, given the current backlash towards unions online due to union voice actors criticizing non-union ones, it appears that the fanbase is more open to accepting new voices for their favorite characters.
