Vampires & Witches Return! ‘Talamasca’ First Look Is HERE!

In the initial two series set within Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe on AMC, they directly followed the storylines from her books, “The Lives of the Mayfair Witches” and “The Vampire Chronicles.” However, for the third series, AMC is venturing into uncharted territories. Rather than adapting a book, they are creating a show centered around the enigmatic organization, the Talamasca. This secretive order intertwines Rice’s vampire realm and her world of witches. At the ATX TV Festival, AMC Networks disclosed first-look images of “Anne Rice’s Talamasca,” which is currently in production, and unveiled new cast members as well.

Executive producers John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty have unveiled fresh details about the cast of Anne Rice’s Talamasca. Alongside previously announced stars Elizabeth McGovern, William Fichtner, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers, Celine Buckens (from Showtrial) will be a regular in the series. Joining as a guest star is Jason Schwartzman. Buckens assumes the role of Doris, a character defined by her strong-willed nature and ancient spirit, who resides with a coven of witches on a houseboat. Schwartzman embodies Burton, an alluring, roguish vampire living in luxury on New York’s Upper West Side. These characters appear to be exclusively created for the series and not derived from any Anne Rice novel.

In Anne Rice’s novels, the Talamasca is an ancient and enigmatic psychic organization with a global scope. They observe (mostly refraining from intervention) in supernatural occurrences worldwide. To put it more accurately, they seldom intervene. Although the Talamasca has never had their own novel, Rice disclosed their origins in her 2014 novel “Prince Lestat,” linking their beginnings more closely to the vampire community. However, the AMC adaptations frequently alter Rice’s original mythology for the screenplay format. As a result, it is uncertain if any of this background information will still be considered canonical in the series. At present, “Anne Rice’s Talamasca” does not have an announced premiere date on AMC.
