For those seeking suitable representatives or aspiring to advance in rankings, this Valorant Sentinel tier list may serve as a helpful resource for you.
While a Duelist may grab the spotlight, it’s important to note that a team lacking a Sentinel can quickly unravel. Calm and composed, Sentinels are all about securing territory with traps, thwarting advances, and safeguarding blind spots. Currently, there are six distinct Sentinels in the game, each offering unique advantages. However, their usefulness can differ significantly.
This classification system compares all Sentinels in Valorant, showcasing their competitive strength relative to one another across various skill levels. The rankings are determined by their overall viability and performance within the present map selection.
In simple terms, this tier list is a guide that helps players understand how well each Sentinel performs compared to others on different maps and at various skill levels. The rankings are based on factors like versatility, utility, and effectiveness in team compositions.
Best Valorant Sentinel Tier List
Here’s a comparison of the various Sentinel agents in Valorant, arranged from least impactful to most potent. Agents categorized as C-tier are experiencing difficulties in the current meta or map selection, often finding it hard to measure up against their opponents. B-tier agents can be effective if played skillfully, but they still don’t meet the performance of the top choices. A-tier agents are dependable and efficient options, while S-tier agents either possess an unfair advantage or display exceptional strength, making them formidable forces in the game.
Tier | Agent |
S | Vyse |
A | Cypher, Deadlock and Killjoy |
B | Sage |
C | Chamber |
S-tier
Vyse
In a recent turn of events at VCT Masters Bangkok, Vyse has proven to be the leading Sentinel, earning the top position in the current Valorant meta. This dominance is largely due to her remarkable versatility, which resulted in the highest selection rate among all Sentinels during the tournament.
Initially, Vyse effortlessly holds her ground on defense and is exceptionally skilled at delaying opponents. She can separate an opponent from their team using her wall, followed by a flash for an effortless pick. Once her wall is triggered, the area or site becomes inaccessible to enemies for nearly eight seconds. The damage that Razorvine inflicts has been significantly increased, making it the most effective defensive grenade in the game. It deals such high damage that no sane player would enter its range unless they intend to lose the game. After being deployed, it remains there for an entire ten seconds, providing ample time for your team. Similarly to Cypher and Killjoy, she can also keep watch on flanks effectively. Armed with a flash ability that detects presence, similar to Skye’s, Vyse can also act as a pseudo-initiator for the team. Additionally, her ultimate can provide an advantage as enemies affected will lose access to their primary weapons.
A key advantage of choosing Vyse as an agent is her ability to work harmoniously with others, such as Tejo and Deadlock, and execute powerful strategies alongside them.
A-tier
Cypher
In this Valorant Sentinel Tier list, Cypher, a Moroccan agent, is ranked second. Currently, Cypher is in a strong position in the game’s meta and remains one of the most effective Sentinels. He has been a popular choice in competitive play and often features in professional matches. Cypher thrives in various scenarios, providing valuable information, monitoring flanks, and hindering enemies from successfully capturing sites. Well-placed traps frequently result in free kills. Moreover, his global abilities enable him to operate effectively across the map without concern for disabling his trap. This versatility makes Cypher an exceptional lurker, as he can apply pressure at multiple locations on the map.
Playing Cypher becomes more challenging as you advance to higher elo levels because executing successful strategies and plays requires unpredictability. While some of his tripwires are indestructible, opponents can still neutralize them using abilities like Sova’s shock dart, Raze’s paint shells, Killjoy’s swarm grenade, or KAY/O’s knife. Nevertheless, if enemies waste their utility on your traps instead of focusing on clearing corners and areas, it counts as a victory for you.
Deadlock
In update 10.04, Deadlock’s kit underwent a minor overhaul, transforming Gravnet into her signature ability. On its own, Gravnet seems rather weak, but things become intriguing when combined with damaging abilities such as Tejo’s missiles or Raze’s paint bombs. Players find it challenging to evade it, and even when they do, it provides Deadlock with valuable information. With the latest adjustment, Deadlock can now throw Gravnet up to twice or thrice in a single round, significantly increasing her threat level on defense and even aiding her in crucial picks during attacks. However, she continues to face challenges as a lone Sentinel, as she is less effective at monitoring flanks compared to Killjoy or Cypher.
Killjoy
Killjoy is easy to grasp and offers a significant impact whether she’s offensively attacking or defensively guarding. Her dependable toolkit effectively thwarts flanks and discourages advances, while her ultimate excels at retaking territory. Compared to other sentinels like Sage, Killjoy still stands out as superior. The return of maps such as Ascent and Icebox, which are particularly favorable for her, along with Lotus remaining in the map pool, will likely increase her selection frequency. Additionally, a recent update addressed an issue where Tejo’s abilities interfered with Lockdown, making Killjoy even more appealing to players who temporarily stopped using her during the Tejo meta.
B-tier
Sage
Although Sage has been a frequently chosen character since the game began, she remains in the B-tier category. As her rank rises, her influence decreases. This is because she doesn’t have any anti-flanking traps, which weakens her effectiveness when used alone as a Sentinel. Her healing can also be ineffective against enemies who can quickly eliminate you with a single shot. Furthermore, her wall can easily be destroyed in a matter of seconds. However, her ultimate is incredibly useful when her team is low on numbers, and her wall is very beneficial during pistol rounds.
C-tier
Chamber
In simpler terms, among the Sentinel characters in Valorant, Chamber is currently ranked as the least powerful due to several significant adjustments (nerfs) he received, which have significantly reduced his effectiveness. Initially considered overpowered, he’s now average, with only one notable ability that characterizes him as a Sentinel, and even this ability lacks global reach.
Instead of using traps or deceptive tactics, Chamber prefers to eliminate opponents directly with his firepower. In a defensive role, Chamber can be played aggressively to secure early kills. Furthermore, his teleport ability allows for strategic positioning from unconventional angles, which some players might not anticipate. Being an operator agent also adds an element of surprise to his presence at sites. However, it’s important to note that Chamber requires good aim to be effective, as he doesn’t have many alternative means of securing kills or delaying pushes like other Sentinels do with traps and grenades. Recent changes to his teleport ability have also made him more predictable due to its limited range.
