Val Kilmer Death: Batman Forever Co-Star Jim Carey, Top Gun’s Anthony Edwards and Jennifer Connelly Share Tributes

Val Kilmer has shown versatility in multiple film roles, consistently garnering praise. Among his most cherished on-screen appearances are those in Top Gun and Batman Forever, where he shared the screen with Jim Carrey, performances that will forever remain iconic.

On April 1, 2025, the actor who left a mark in both live-action and animated film industries (most notably in The Prince of Egypt from 1998), passed away. Subsequently, numerous colleagues paid tribute to him in remembrance.

In remembrance of the passing of Val Kilmer, Jim Carrey recently shared his thoughts, stating on April 2nd, “Today, I’m remembering Val Kilmer with immense respect for him not only as a person but also as a gifted actor whose timeless performances have left behind an impressive and unforgettable legacy.” (PEOPLE)

In the 1995 superhero movie, the actor who portrayed the Riddler expressed admiration for Val Kilmer, stating that his artistic accomplishments were surpassed only by his grace and bravery. He implied that Kilmer, who has since passed away, lived his life with exceptional artistic talent.

For those unfamiliar, Kilmer portrayed the role of Batman alongside Carrey, Tommy Lee Jones, Nicole Kidman, and Drew Barrymore in a film.

Simultaneously, the family of Val Kilmer, famed for their roles in the hit movie Top Gun, recalled him individually through posts and announcements.

Anthony Edwards, who acted as LTJG Nick “Goose” Bradshaw opposite Tom “Iceman” Kazansky portrayed by Kilmer, shared with PEOPLE that his departed colleague left a significant impact on countless individuals through various forms of art.

“Hoping he is at peace,” Edwards added. 

Jennifer Connelly, who became part of the series with the latest release, Top Gun: Maverick (2022), posted on her Instagram Stories, “Farewell to our eternal Iceman,” along with a picture of him.

In a post on Instagram Stories, Danny Ramirez stated that Val Kilmer possessed a warm, lively, and fun-loving character. He felt fortunate for having had the chance to act alongside such an individual.

Val Kilmer passed away due to pneumonia at the age of 65.
