In Monster Hunter Wilds, I’ve encountered no foe quite like Mizutsune. This slippery serpent transforms the battleground into an ice rink coated with soap, making it a treacherous slide to certain peril!
You’ve come here with the intention to defeat the lively nuisance, Mizutsune, but let’s face it – this isn’t just an ordinary target for your fists. It moves gracefully, evades your attacks, and if you’re not vigilant, it will leave you embarrassed in front of your entire hunting group.
Don’t fret, I’ve got you covered. I’ve faced this challenge before, and while it didn’t make me a hero, I’d rather take the fall than see you stumble.
How to unlock Mizutsune quest
Let’s get started: Before you embark, ensure your game is updated to version 1, as Mizutsune was introduced there. With the update in place, follow these steps:
This way, I tried to maintain the original meaning while making it more conversational and easy to read.
- Reach Hunter Rank 21. If you’re not there yet, keep grinding regular hunts until you hit the mark.
- Talk to Kanya. Kanya’s location in Monster Hunter Wilds is in the Scarlet Forest’s base camp, near the fishing pond. Have a chat with her to unlock the hunt.
If Kanya doesn’t provide you with the quest, it may be necessary for you to finish “Life, In Microcosm” beforehand. You can clarify this by simply catching a fish at her specific spot.
Should you feel daring (or adventurous), you have the option to tackle a more challenging variant at Hunter Rank 41. On this occasion, seek out Alma for instructions.
Mizutsune weaknesses & strategy
Mizutsune is vulnerable to Thunder, Dragon, and Ice elements. It’s best to steer clear of Water and Fire as it has high resistance to these.
Her vulnerability lies in her head area, making her susceptible to damage from careless and cutting attacks such as those inflicted by the Hammer and Sword. Unfortunately, my Insect Glaive struggles in these situations.
You can check out all monster weaknesses here.
How to beat Mizutsune
Here are a few tips to bring this monster down:
- Target the head: Mizutsune’s head is its biggest weak spot.
- Gear up for water resistance: Its water-based attacks can ruin your day. Equip armor with high water resistance to survive longer.
- Bring cleanser items: Bubbleblight is annoying. Minor Bubbleblight boosts your evasion (neat), but Major Bubbleblight makes you slide uncontrollably (not neat). Carry Cleansers to avoid the latter.
- Watch the Bubbles: Not all bubbles are bad.
- Green bubbles heal you.
- Red bubbles give an attack boost.
- Pink bubbles deal damage and stagger you (avoid these).
Following these guidelines, you’re well-prepared for defeating Mizutsune. For those curious about new quests introduced with the Title 1 update, such as “The Apple of Her Eye”, we have all the information you need.
