  • While many of the locations remain the same as the original, there are some notable differences.
  • Ayleid Ruins are great for starters, as they contain items like Welkynd Stones, which are both useful and valuable.

Experiencing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has been a delight for diehard series enthusiasts as well as novices. Particularly noteworthy is the opportunity to revisit the stunning province of Cyrodiil, now boasting enhanced and revamped visuals.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve found that while many familiar elements are still intact, there have been subtle adjustments to aspects such as the difficulty level and loot distribution in this iteration of the game. These tweaks subtly alter the experience when exploring various areas, making it feel fresh and slightly distinct from the original. Fortunately, upon starting out, players can strategically focus on specific locations and tasks initially to gather some early loot and experience, ensuring a smoother journey throughout the rest of the game.

1. Vilverin

The First Ayleid Ruin

A convenient choice at the beginning of your adventure is Vilverin, an ancient Ayleid ruin situated near the river, opposite the Imperial City Prison Sewers exit post the game’s opening scene. Scattered across the map are numerous Ayleid ruins, which can be excellent spots for finding valuable loot.

As a gamer, diving into Vilverin right from the start is like walking through a park compared to other challenges ahead. It’s packed with simple foes like bandits, skeletons, and zombies, making it a breeze even on tougher difficulty settings. The real draw here are the Welkynd Stones that refill your magicka in full, and the even rarer Varla Stone that recharges all your enchanted items. These are super handy to have around, but they’re also quite valuable, especially the Varla Stone, which can fetch a few hundred gold from enchanting merchants.

2. Rockmilk

Marauders vs. Black Bow Bandits

The Rockmilk Caverns, conveniently situated in the southern region of Cyrodiil during your journey between Bravil and Leyawiin, consist of two primary sections: the Rockmilk Cave and the Rockmilk Sanctuary.

In this cave, unlike others in the game, there’s an unusual element: two hostile groups, Marauders and Black Bow Bandits, reside within. These factions will attack both the player and each other, resulting in quite a tumultuous atmosphere. However, they share similarities with typical bandits, making them manageable. An additional advantage is that the Black Bow Bandit adversaries consistently drop their signature Black Bows, which can be sold for approximately 100 gold pieces each, turning this site into a rather lucrative destination to explore.

3. Sercen

Another Ruin North Of The Imperial City

Above the capital city of the province, often the initial destination for many visitors, lies Sercen – a site similar to Vilverin, boasting additional Ayleid treasures to help players embark on an enjoyable and rewarding gaming experience from the get-go.

Fortunately, unlike other ruins, this one is compact and manageable, featuring just one spacious room inhabited by a small group of bandits. It may not seem significant even for beginners. However, what sets it apart is the abundance of Welkynd Stones within, offering a convenient source of early-game gold known as septims, and various chests strewn around with additional loot, thanks to the presence of the bandits. Additionally, its proximity to the Imperial City makes it a quick and efficient way to earn several hundred gold coins in just a few minutes.

4. Robber’s Glen

A Small Cave Just Northwest Of Bravil

Under the ominous moniker Robber’s Glen Cave, you might expect to stumble upon a gang of outlaws and their ill-gotten treasures. However, contrary to its name, the cave now harbors neither bandits nor people in general.

As an alchemy enthusiast, I can’t help but rave about this hidden gem nestled just northwest of Bravil. It’s a goldmine for Imp Gall, an essential ingredient for my potions! The inhabitants here are the mischievous Imps – small, flying creatures with a knack for magic attacks. While they can unleash fire, frost, or shock spells, these attacks are generally quite feeble and simple to dodge, making them more of an amusing challenge than formidable foes.

But wait, there’s more! Once you’ve taken care of the Imps, you’ll find a plethora of hidden chests scattered around. These treasure troves make for effortless looting as you journey towards Bravil, adding a delightful twist to your adventure!

5. The Arena

The Imperial City’s Colosseum

One popular feature that sets The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion apart is its Arena, where players can engage in mortal combat themselves or wager on the fights of others.

In the game of Oblivion, wagering can lead to substantial earnings. However, for those ready to gamble even more, there is the opportunity to amass vast quantities of gold by putting one’s life on the line in combat (provided one emerges victorious). With each skirmish, players can advance in rank and ultimately claim the title of Arena Champion, a position with its own perks. Winning here not only brings a generous cash reward but also serves as an excellent means to gather experience. What’s more, the Arena is conveniently situated within the capital that newcomers often visit first upon starting the game, making it an easily accessible location for leveling up and earning gold simultaneously.

6. Fyrelight

In The Heart Of Cyrodiil’s Wine Region

The Fyrelight Cave, an intriguing network of caves, is nestled within the West Weald region, not far from the prosperous city of Skingrad. It’s one of the notable cave systems to delve into during the early stages of the game. Compared to other similar locations, this cave is more expansive, divided into three distinct zones.

Initially, the opponents you’ll face will seem like playful sprites, nothing too threatening. However, as players progress and advance through higher stages, these foes transform into formidable ogres and trolls, making it prudent to begin your adventure at a relatively lower level. This location stands out during the initial phase of gameplay due to its central river system that flows towards a tiny hidden vault filled with valuable treasures. These trinkets can be advantageously sold to merchants in Skingrad.

7. Greenmead Cave

They Don’t Call It “The Gold Road” For Nothing!

While traversing the Golden Road leading from the Imperial City to Skingrad, adventurers might unexpectedly discover Greenmead – a network of caves divided into three sections that often contain valuable treasures for the taking.

Among the locations discussed, Greenmead stands out as one of the riskier ones due to the presence of formidable foes such as Minotaurs, Spriggans, and the particularly challenging Will-o-the-Wisps. These creatures require magic attacks to harm them. However, if players exercise caution and come well-equipped, Greenmead’s labyrinthine cave system is rich in treasure, potentially including valuable enchanted items that could prove lucrative, making it a rewarding place to explore, especially during the early levels.

8. Garden Of Dareloth

One Mysterious Guild Meeting

Although it doesn’t offer financial gain on its own, it’s important to note its value as a stepping stone to joining a particular “enigmatic” association.

In the Waterfront District of the Imperial City lies The Garden of Dareloth, a place where a guild gathering will be held late at night following some clandestine investigations into local gossip. It’s here that players can join the Thieves Guild, an organization that presents lucrative opportunities for stealing valuable items in exchange for hefty sums of gold. While this route may not align with ethical principles, it certainly ranks among the most financially rewarding paths within the game if pursued.
