Over fifteen years have passed since the last movie, Shrek Forever After, hit the screens.
The brief sneak peek for Shrek 5 reveals a change in its visual style. The new depictions are more intricate and lifelike than those seen in earlier films. With advancements in animation technology since the last Shrek movie in 2010, DreamWorks is revamping the franchise to meet current standards.
As a movie enthusiast, here’s my take: In the latest sneak peek, Shrek, Fiona, Donkey, and their adorable daughter Felicia (Zendaya’s voice) are gathered near the Magic Mirror. Donkey inquires about the fairest one among them, and the Mirror playfully quips, “Oh, definitely Shrek, my friend!” Then, it proceeds to display a series of humorous internet memes showcasing our favorite green ogre.
In my view, I’ve come across a meme featuring a muscular take on the beloved ogre, Shrek. This version seems to be a bit too intimidating for Felicia, but it certainly catches Fiona’s eye. Interestingly, Pinocchio pops up in this collection, vehemently denying any involvement. Yet, as if by magic, his nose continues to grow, adding an amusing twist to the narrative.
To be honest, many viewers have commented that the recent redesign appears less appealing compared to the original films. It seems as though Universal chose to address this criticism by making a jest about it.
At Universal Orlando, the character of Donkey, who engages with visitors in a lively, animated encounter, quipped about the fresh designs for characters in the upcoming Shrek 5. Laughingly poking fun at the revised animation style revealed in the film’s initial teaser trailer, Donkey jested that his appearance was less than stellar, commenting, “I look rough! Donkey looks like a homeless guy.” He then made a light-hearted joke about having the final say on movie appearances, hinting at his displeasure with the new design.
