The popular manga, Undead Unluck, has shared exciting updates through its official social media channels! Creator Yoshifumi Tozuka’s work is nearing its conclusion with the release of two final volumes – 26 and 27 – coming in April. However, here’s a twist: The final volume will feature never-before-seen chapters that are brand new!
Initially, Tozuka presented this series as a standalone story in Weekly Shonen Jump back in January 2019. After a year, it evolved into a continuous series that ran for four years before wrapping up last week. Viz Media took charge of the English translation, making the manga available online in 2020 and in print form in 2021. Additionally, Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform published it digitally as well.
In my own words, I’d say: I find myself in the shoes of Fuuko, yearning for a romance as captivating as those in my cherished shojo manga. Yet, my peculiar ability, Unluck, seems to thwart all romantic endeavors. However, when hope seemed to be fading, I cross paths with Andy – a man who embraces my misfortune as a means to his end. Our unconventional alliance takes an unforeseen twist as a clandestine organization begins pursuing us relentlessly.
The manga titled “Undead Unluck” garnered significant recognition, placing at number 14 on the 2021 “Kono Yonkoma ga Sugoi!” list for male readers. Additionally, it was awarded the Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō prize in August 2020.
Initially airing on Hulu in October 2023, the series transitioned into anime format. It concluded its run after 24 episodes in March 2024. However, the tale isn’t complete just yet. A unique, one-hour anime special is planned for winter 2025. Unlike previous adaptations, Tozuka himself is crafting an original story and designing a fresh UMA creature specifically for this special.
