As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that starting April 4th, Shueisha will be unveiling a fresh take on the undead world with the third installment of “Hiteishatachi no Aoharu na Kōkō Seikatsu” or “The Youthful High School Life of the Negators.” This series has been a captivating read since its debut in 2022, and I can’t wait to dive back into this unique universe on April 4th!
On this occasion, the narrative finds Fuuko smack dab in the midst of a bustling high school fair. Although she relishes her scholastic existence, events take an unforeseen twist as disorder ensues.
Yoshifumi Tozuka first presented “Undead Unluck” as a standalone story in “Weekly Shonen Jump” way back in January 2019. Then, a year after that, it evolved into a regular series within the same publication.
In the year of 2020, Viz Media debuted the digital publication of it. Print editions came out a year later, in 2021. The manga is also accessible through Shueisha’s MANGA Plus platform. After a span of four years, the manga concluded on January 27, 2025, bringing an end to its serialization in Shonen Jump.
The 27th and final volume will be available in April, featuring new content for readers to enjoy.
For those not acquainted with it, Viz Media describes “Undead Unluck” as follows: Fuuko yearns for a romantic tale akin to her beloved shojo mangas. However, her unique talent, known as “Unluck,” thwarts any chance of romance.
At the point where she believes things couldn’t possibly deteriorate any further, she encounters Andy – a man who leaves her no choice but to be carried away by him. Andy desires to harness her power for an elaborate scheme aimed at his demise, yet their strategy faces a hurdle when a clandestine group begins pursuing them persistently.
The animated series based on this title made its debut in October 2023, only available on Hulu. Over the course of 24 episodes, it concluded in March 2024. However, the tale doesn’t end there! A unique one-hour anime special is scheduled for release during winter 2025. The creator himself, Tozuka, is penning the story and has even conceived a fresh UMA creature exclusively for this special.
