The next round of Umamusume’s player-versus-player Champions Meeting will be the Cancer Cup in October 2025. You can learn how Champions Meeting works in the article linked above, and this article will help you build a strong team to compete in the upcoming Cancer Cup.
Umamusume Cancer Cup: distance, track, and conditions
- Cancer Cup – Tokyo (Turf), Mile (1,600m), Left, Spring, Sunny, Good
The Cancer Cup is a one-mile race, covering a distance of 1,600 meters. To keep things fair, factors like the direction of the race, the time of year, the weather, and the track surface will always be consistent – meaning there’s no random chance involved in those areas.
The 1,600-meter race in Tokyo features a mostly straight track with a few challenging sections. Runners will navigate two corners and two uphill climbs – one in the middle of the race and one towards the end. There’s also a downhill section in the first half of the middle portion of the race. The beginning and first third of the race, as well as the final stretch, are run on straightaways. Overall, the race includes 1,050 meters of straight track and 550 meters of turns.
Umamusume Cancer Cup: green skills
Since all races are run under the same conditions, certain skills will reliably give your Umamusume helpful stat boosts. Here’s a list of those skills for the Cancer Cup:
- Speed: Left-Handed
- Speed: Summer Runner
- Stamina: Tokyo Racecourse
- Stamina: Standard Distance
- Power: Wet Conditions
- Guts: Sunny Days
Umamusume Cancer Cup: characters, stats, and skills
Almost any character can succeed in the Cancer Cup if you maximize their Mile and Turf skills to at least A-Rank, and ideally S-Rank, as these skills are the most important. Here are the characters who already start with A-Rank in both Mile and Turf, making it easier to boost them to S-Rank using Sparks.
- Fuji Kiseki
- Grass Wonder (Fantasy)
- El Condor Pasa (Fantasy)
- Hishi Amazon
- Silence Suzuka
- Maruzensky
- Oguri Cap
- Taiki Shuttle
- Vodka
- Daiwa Scarlet
- Grass Wonder
- El Condor Pasa
Unlike the Gemini Cup, which tested endurance, the Cancer Cup focuses on speed and strength. Because the race is shorter – 1,600 meters compared to 3,200 meters – getting up to top speed quickly is much more important. (If you’re interested in the difference between velocity and acceleration, we have a detailed explanation available.)
In this event, skills like Groundwork, Corner Connoisseur, and Rushing Gale are particularly useful, along with skills that focus on distance and strategy. Skills that boost acceleration essentially give you more power, making it easier to pass opponents and get the most out of speed boosts. If you’re competing in the Cancer Cup, don’t spend Skill Points on recovery skills – they aren’t necessary if you maintain Stamina between 500 and 600.
In terms of stat distribution, you should roughly aim for something like the following:
Speed | Stamina | Power | Guts | Wit |
---|---|---|---|---|
1200 | 600 | 800+ | 300 | 400+ |
