Okay, so I just saw this and had to share – a super rare 1993 Porsche 968 Turbo S is going up for auction at Amelia Island. Apparently, it’s one of only 14 ever made! For a long time, this model was kind of slept on, but now experts think it could sell for over a million dollars – possibly setting a new record price for any front-engine Porsche. Seriously, a million bucks for a Porsche from the ’90s? That’s wild!
This car stands out with its unique silver paint and a black leather and corduroy interior. It was originally purchased by famed Czech tennis player Helena Suková, who owned it in Monaco until 2014. Records show it’s had only four owners and has remarkably low mileage – just 18,872 miles.
The Turbo S is the most advanced version of the 968, boasting a powerful 3.0-liter four-cylinder engine. A turbocharger, intercooler, and updated engine control system boost its output to 305 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds, reaching a top speed of 175 mph. It also borrows lightweight parts from the Club Sport model, blurring the line between a comfortable road car and a track-ready racer.
A rare 1993 Porsche 968 Turbo S will be auctioned off at the Amelia Island event on March 5th and 6th.
