Ultimates Shocker: Maker’s Back & Everything’s Changing!

The “Ultimate Universe” is entering its second year of struggle, and things are set to become even more challenging. Writer Deniz Camp and artist Juan Frigeri are persisting with their work on “ULTIMATES,” a series focusing on a team of heroes battling against the Maker’s rule in Earth-6160.

In this newly created cosmos, the Creator aimed to prevent acts of bravery from flourishing. However, Iron Lad, an alternative version of Mr. Fantastic called Doom, along with their squad, the Ultimates, chose not to surrender and continued their heroic efforts.

Over the past year, they’ve built a network of rebels, standing up against the Maker’s dominion. Meanwhile, with their foe confined within a dome, the Ultimates seized this opportunity to retaliate and diminish his authority.

Now, things are about to change.

Ultimates #12 – On Sale May 21

In Issue 12, the team is reorganizing themselves. Following some challenging months marked by peril and heartbreak, they have undergone a transformation.

According to writer Deniz Camp, Iron Lad’s perspective has undergone a significant shift following his near-death encounter with Bruce Banner in issue #6.

Camp remarked when queried about how the incident affected Iron Lad. ‘The real question,’ he added, ‘is whether this experience has set him and the team on a better or worse course.’

Ultimates #13 – On Sale June 18

In just six short months, the return of the Maker will take place, significantly altering our current situation. This impending event considerably increases the importance and urgency of our actions.

Camp teased big changes for the team and the story.

He mentioned that since readers who keep up with the solicits are aware, this is the next step in the development of the book and the team – Ultimates 3.0. The situation for each team member undergoes a significant shift, and there’s a noticeable urgency to the storyline as time ticks away.

During the initial run of “Ultimates”, readers were introduced to revamped characters such as Doom and a fresh character, Charli Ramsey – an alternate version of Hawkeye. The second year promises further unexpected twists.

Camp shared that Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver have been confirmed for an appearance, and another popular character will join them in the same issue. He also hinted at the introduction of well-known and lesser-known figures in upcoming issues. Additionally, we can expect to see familiar villains and extreme groups from the series reemerging, as Year Two promises to be even more action-packed and filled with groundbreaking changes than before.

As Camp puts it: “Remember: This is a rescue mission.”

Prepared to revolutionize the Ultimate Universe as no other time before, the Ultimates are set with high stakes, new characters emerging as heroes, and the Maker’s imminent comeback on the horizon.
