Type Of Way And Flex Hitmaker Rich Homie Quan Passes Away At 33; Reports Reveal He Was Found Unresponsive By Girlfriend

As a devoted fan of Rich Homie Quan since his early days, it feels like a gut-wrenching punch to the heart to hear about his untimely demise at just 33 years old. I vividly remember the first time I heard Type of Way and was instantly hooked by the raw energy and authenticity in his voice that resonated with so many of us. His music was more than just beats and rhymes; it was a reflection of our struggles, our triumphs, and our unapologetic spirit.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but be devastated by the tragic news that my beloved Rich Homie Quan, known for his electrifying dance hits like Type of Way and Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh), has passed away at just 33 years old. According to reports from the Associated Press and other trusted sources, Quan, whose real name is Dequantes Devontay Lamar, sadly took his last breath at an Atlanta hospital, as confirmed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office. I was deeply saddened to learn of this heartbreaking news on Thursday, September 5.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: On a fateful morning, I made an urgent call to the emergency services after discovering my partner, Quan, seemingly unconscious on our couch. The incident had occurred the previous evening when he dozed off, and by the break of dawn, he remained unresponsive.

Williams, as reported by the publication, stated that she appeared distressed and mentioned that she had covered Quan, thinking he was still asleep, to take their son to school. Upon her return home, she discovered that Quan didn’t have a pulse and wasn’t breathing. “When I flipped him over,” she explained, “there was foam coming from his mouth.”

911 dispatcher directed Williams to place the rapper face-down on the ground. Shortly afterwards, paramedics arrived, but unfortunately, Quan didn’t survive and was declared dead at the location itself. The exact reason behind his death is still unknown, as an autopsy has been scheduled for Friday.

According to TMZ, Quan’s loved ones are “shattered and heartbroken by his sudden death.”

Quan’s last social media post, uploaded on Monday, has sparked discussion online. The rapper titled his post “Clear vision even amidst the nonsense,” alongside some pictures of himself performing while wearing a green and white ’89 jersey. It remains uncertain what the rapper was hinting at with the term “nonsense.”

A significant number of his supporters and peers expressed their grief on social media platforms, offering comforting messages to his family following his passing.

Boosie Badazz conveyed through X: “I’ve just received news that @RichHomieQuan has passed away. We spoke just the other day, and I also recently chatted with you, my friend #RIPQUAN Your smile, the way you spoke, and your music will never be forgotten.”

Jazz, famous for tunes such as “Come Thru” and “At the Club,” who had a long-standing musical partnership with Quan over the past decade, posted, “Eternal rest, my dear brother Rich Homie Quan. I’ll always love you, #Richgang.”

On Thursday, Atlanta-native rapper Playboi Carti shared snippets and photos of Quan and Young Thug, in response to the unfortunate news about Quan’s demise.

Over the course of his professional journey, Quan worked together with musicians such as 2 Chainz, Young Thug, Trinidad James, and Gucci Mane. Notably, he was recognized with multiple BET and BET Hip Hop Awards nominations, including those for Best New Artist and People’s Champ Award, as reported by Variety.
