Tyler Hoechlin Wants To Play James Gunn’s Batman

Tyler Hoechlin again says he wants to play Batman, this time for James Gunn’s DCU.

How DC’s Past Plans Shaped Hoechlin’s Superman and Batman Ambitions

I mentioned some time ago that Hoechlin was considering taking on the role of Batman, during the development of a film named “The Batman” which depicted Batman in his early days as a hero.

If “Man of Steel” had grossed over a billion dollars at the box office, it seems that DC might have continued in the direction they initially planned. However, since this didn’t happen, they shifted their focus to the older Batman character, played by Ben Affleck, and abandoned plans for “Man of Steel 2” and a separate movie featuring a younger Batman, opting instead for “Batman v Superman”.

As a die-hard movie buff, I was thrilled when the producers decided to cast Tyler Hoechlin as their Superman in The CW DC universe and ‘Superman & Lois’. To be honest, I believe this latest portrayal of Superman is the most compelling one we’ve seen since Christopher Reeve graced our screens.

In the following year, Matt Reeves took on the task of directing “The Batman” with Robert Pattinson, who was in his second stint as a hero. It’s been mentioned that at that time, Reeves was poised to assume control over DC productions, but Christopher Nolan instead chose to hand DC off to Zack Snyder.

What did Tyler Hoechlin say about Batman?

Regarding Tyler Hoechlin’s comments, during the Toronto Fan Expo Canada this past weekend, he was queried by Ebaster about whether Robert Pattinson’s Batman could coexist with James Gunn’s DCU. Hoechlin expressed his hope that the universes won’t be combined, as he continues to aspire to portray Batman himself.

While I would personally prefer to continue playing Batman, I believe Rob did an exceptional job, and working with Matt Reeves was a pleasure. Therefore, I’m content for them to carry on with their work. Leaving the door open for future possibilities seems like a good idea too.

The Future of Batman in James Gunn’s DCU

As a devoted DC Universe fan, I’m eagerly looking forward to the next chapter in Batman’s story. James Gunn, the brilliant mind behind some of our favorite superhero films, has confirmed that “The Batman” sequel is set for release in 2027. On top of that, he’s penning a new movie as part of the Superman Saga. Now, this has me wondering if we might see the DC Dark Knight stepping into the spotlight once more!

According to reports, Andy Muschietti is apparently continuing his association with the project titled “Brave and the Bold“, as the script development is ongoing. It’s worth noting that Muschietti was present at the premiere of James Gunn’s “Superman“, along with Tim Burton (Reeves being another name for Burton).

There are reports suggesting that Gunn might prefer Robert Pattinson for the role of Batman in the DC Universe, but it’s possible that director Matt Reeves isn’t on board with this choice.

Another name thrown out there for Gunn’s DCU Batman has been Brandon Sklenar.
