Twilight Stars’ Best Movies Revealed: A Surprising List

The Twilight film series may not hold the title of the greatest movie franchise ever made, but its influence on popular culture is indisputable. Many of the actors who started their careers in this young adult vampire romance series have since achieved greater success elsewhere. For instance, Robert Pattinson recently expressed a desire for people to move past Twilight in an interview.

In this movie, Twilight, certain performers saw it as a stepping stone toward greater roles, while others considered it a pinnacle of their acting careers. The following list will showcase some of the original film’s most memorable actors and their top career performances. These selections span from those that have received critical acclaim to ones I believe are worthy of an Oscar in spirit.

Kristen Stewart in Spencer

Kristen Stewart gained worldwide recognition by playing Bella in Twilight, yet that wasn’t her finest acting role. Over time, she’s demonstrated her versatility as an actor with performances like Melinda Sordino in Speak and Tracy in Into the Wild. However, it’s the role of Princess Diana in Spencer that truly highlights Stewart’s talent. While “biopic” is a powerful term for this film, it’s worth noting that Stewart earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress for her outstanding performance in it.

The movie struggles in its depiction of Diana because it leans more towards psychological fan fiction than a true-to-life biography. However, Kristen Stewart’s performance was exceptional, elevating the entire film and making her character a compelling portrayal of a tormented yet strong figure. I hope to see Stewart take on more roles like this that showcase her versatility beyond playing teenage girls entangled with the wrong crowd.

Robert Pattinson in Good Time

For quite some time now, Robert Pattinson has been striving to move beyond his association with the “Twilight” saga, and his upcoming role as the main character in Bong Joon-Ho’s film “Mickey-17” could very well help him achieve this goal. Despite not always being fond of the “Twilight” series, Pattinson has been particularly diligent among the cast in trying to separate himself from the franchise and demonstrate his versatile acting abilities.

You might be wondering why I didn’t choose Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter, but that’s just a joke. The more surprising question is why his most impressive role isn’t Batman or in Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse. To be fair, I haven’t watched The Lighthouse yet, but I really should. However, I strongly believe that Pattinson’s portrayal in the Safdie brothers’ Good Time is remarkably different from his other acting work. In this film, he manages to escape his typical brooding image and instead delivers a powerful performance as a desperate and devoted brother.

Taylor Lautner in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3D

Absolutely, I stand by my admiration for this movie, “Sharkboy and Lavagirl,” to the very end. This film has been unfairly criticized for far too long. While it may appear cheesy at first glance, upon closer inspection, it embraces the charm of camp rather than being corny. The outlandish Planet Drool and the Dream Graveyard, despite their fantastical nature, carry profound real-life messages about perseverance. Taylor Lautner’s portrayal of Sharkboy extends beyond our childhood memories and remains one of the most iconic Halloween duo costumes even today.

The humor lies in the fact that I’d find Twilight just as cheesy now as it was then, but maybe that’s Taylor Lautner’s forte. Nowadays, Lautner is involved with a series titled “Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter,” which seems to have been plucked from the realm of forgotten dreams. This show, under development at Amazon, sees Lautner in the lead role, set in an alternate timeline where his experience playing Jacob Black earns him a spot with werewolf hunters.

Nikki Reed in Thirteen

Nikki Reed, famously recognized for her role as Rosalie Hale in Twilight, also gave an exceptional performance as Evie in Thirteen. It’s a film that might not immediately ring a bell until you catch a glimpse of its poster. A movie like this is often watched during sleepovers with friends, unbeknownst to the fact that it delves much deeper than expected.

It’s often astonishing to learn that both Reed and the director of the movie, Catherine Hardwicke (who later directed the first Twilight), collaborated on writing Thirteen’s screenplay. Remarkably, 14-year-old Reed drew inspiration for this script from her personal teenage experiences, making it a sort of precursor to Euphoria.

Anna Kendrick in Pitch Perfect

A year following her role in “The Twilight Saga” as Jessica Stanley, Kendrick then spearheaded the “Pitch Perfect” movie series. The “Pitch Perfect” franchise undeniably revolutionized pop culture, influencing everything from the cup song that dominated my elementary school to Hailee Steinfeld’s unexpected rendition of “Flashlight,” which she performed without being asked and is still facing consequences for it in today’s music industry.

Each time I re-watch this film, it seems to improve more and more. Moreover, Kendrick’s on-screen persona is experiencing a resurgence. Excuse me?! But isn’t it true that we all secretly wished to own her wardrobe back then? Now that I’m an adult, I find myself in the same predicament. Kendrick revolutionized acapella music, and I must confess, my anticipation for the next installment of the series is high.

Ashley Greene in…Well, Honestly, Twilight

frankly speaking, Ashley Greene’s finest performance can be found in the movie Twilight, and it’s not a problem at all to excel as the beloved character Alice Cullen.

I must admit, the world of “Twilight” is truly unique in its own right. Yet, it’s fascinating to witness how actors such as Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, who once embodied Bella and Edward respectively, have transcended their roles in a series that was often criticized. This only reinforces the idea that raw acting talent can outshine even the most unconventional stories. I still find it hard to comprehend how these remarkable actors got their start in this franchise. Here’s hoping for a Robert Pattinson acting nomination in the near future!
