Each year brings exciting new TV shows and beloved characters, but getting invested in a series also means facing the possibility of it ending. Unfortunately, cancellations are common these days, sometimes happening before a show really gets going. And, like everything else, all good TV series eventually come to a close. While it’s always sad to see a show go, we’ll always remember the stories they told. In 2026, several shows will be ending, either due to cancellation or because the creators have finished their planned story.
Let’s get into what shows we will have to say goodbye to this year.
The Boys
The journey with The Boys has been a thrilling one! This Prime Video series offered a gritty and often shocking look at a world where superheroes are mostly villains. We’ve seen significant growth from characters like Wee Hughie and Kimiko, watched MM confront his past, and even witnessed A-Train turn things around. Now, as the US faces political turmoil and supes start imprisoning ordinary people, we’re heading towards the show’s conclusion in 2026. The fifth and final season premieres on April 8th, and fans are happy to see the story reach its natural end.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show is scheduled to end in 2026. The reasons for the cancellation are complex. Colbert has often publicly criticized both CBS and the current president, which is common for late-night hosts. Although CBS claims his opinions aren’t the reason for the show’s end, the timing is noteworthy. The final episode will air on May 21st.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

Daryl’s story, now alongside his friend Carol, will conclude after four seasons. He’s enjoyed facing challenges in places like France and Spain so much that it’s hard to imagine him wanting to return to a normal life. With filming finished last November, the final episodes are expected to air in 2026. Fans are wondering if this could lead to a larger event bringing back the main characters from the original Walking Dead series, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Outlander
After eight seasons and twelve years, the popular show Outlander is concluding. This is especially notable now, when many shows take years between seasons, or don’t last beyond a couple of seasons at all. Fans of this historical fantasy series will finally see how the story ends, with the final episodes airing from March to May this year.
Good Omens

After the emotional season two finale of Good Omens, fans were eager to know what would happen next. Despite recent issues involving creator Neil Gaiman’s departure from the show, the story will still reach a conclusion. Instead of another full season, it will be a 90-minute special episode to bring everything to a close. Hopefully, Aziraphale and Crowley will finally get the satisfying ending they deserve.
The Witcher
In 2024, Netflix announced that its fantasy series, The Witcher, would return for a fifth and final season. The fourth season, starring Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia (replacing Henry Cavill), premiered in Fall 2025. Because seasons four and five were filmed consecutively, the show is expected to conclude before the end of 2026.
All American
We don’t usually cover sports dramas, except for the excellent Ted Lasso. But All American reminds us of the heyday of The CW, when they were known for long-running, ensemble shows. Unfortunately, All American is ending with its eighth season, which will premiere in 2026. Eight seasons in eight years is a really impressive run, though!
The Way Home
While this show isn’t typically the kind of series we cover—it’s a Hallmark drama—the story itself is really appealing, especially if you enjoy time travel and emotionally impactful stories. It centers around three generations of women – Del, the grandmother, her daughter Kat, and Kat’s teenage daughter Alice – who all live on a farm in Canada.
The show centers around a family dealing with long-held emotional pain, complicated by a mysterious pond that enables time travel. As Alice and others journey through different time periods, their actions create a ripple effect with unforeseen consequences. The fourth and final season of The Way Home premieres on April 19th, marking another television series concluding in 2026.
