Trump DeFi’s Shocking ETH Dump—Will Your Crypto Survive?

Oh dear, Ethereum is having a meltdown bigger than my attempt at karaoke last holidays—talk about mortifying! Prices dropped faster than the final scoop of ice cream on a hot summer day. Even our beloved institutional investors appear to be skulking away, possibly muttering, “We never liked crypto anyway, honest!” 🤷‍♀️

Ethereum Whale Sells After Holding for Over 900 Days

In a twist that’s more dramatic than a celebrity divorce, Arkham Intelligence reports that World Liberty Financial lugged its sizable ETH bags straight to the exchange chopping block. A wallet tied to the project sold 5,471 ETH (a casual $8.01 million, no biggie) at about $1,465 each. Sadly for them, this was after originally buying 67,498 ETH at roughly $3,259 a pop, totaling a wallet-busting $210 million. Someone pass the tissues because this leaves them with a heartbreakingly unrealized loss of around $125 million. Ouch! 😬

Not to be outdone, a seasoned Ethereum whale (who apparently gave up on the idea of diamond hands) decided enough was enough. After coddling 10,000 ETH like a beloved houseplant for over 900 days, they sold out for $15.71 million. They did at least snag a profit of $2.75 million—which might be enough for an island getaway, or a few snack runs, depending on personal taste. In fairness, they survived ETH’s roller coaster up to $4,000, so kudos for holding on tight that long. 🏄‍♂️

Potential for a Retail Dump as Institutions Abandon Ethereum

Now for the cliffhanger: With both World Liberty Financial and steadfast HODLers deciding to toss ETH off the lifeboat, crypto rumor mills are swirling with talk of a full-blown retail exodus. As the grown-ups (i.e., institutions) start ghosting Ethereum and the price keeps sagging, everyone’s biting their nails wondering if this could trigger a wave of retail panic selling. Will ETH bounce back from this embarrassing tumble, or will it sink faster than my new year’s resolutions? Stay tuned, folks—and keep the emojis handy! 🤔
