Are you prepared? Once you’ve started, there’s no turning back! That’s the promise made by the thrilling new trailer for Tron Ares, which was released by Disney on April 5th. This is the highly anticipated third film in the Tron movie franchise, and it was first shown at CinemaCon on the very same day.

In this film, Jared Leto takes on the role of an advanced computer program that gets transferred from a digital realm into our physical world for a perilous assignment, according to the synopsis. This movie is reminiscent of the 1982 Disney sci-fi classic Tron and its 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy.

Troy Ares is going to delve into the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and its interaction with humans, as well as the influence that ‘AI entities’ have on our world. The preview commences with broadcasts reporting an unusual occurrence – “a biker traveling at more than 120 miles every hour.

It’s unmistakable that the cyclists or bikers are not your average folks, as a beam from their vehicle splits a car clean in half. Not long after, terrifying AI entities turn into a nightmare for earthbound humans. Desperate to flee, people scramble as the technological and human worlds violently collide.

During the CinemaCon event, it came to light that Leto had been deeply captivated by Tron as a child. The performer in The Suicide Squad hinted that the movie exceeded all his expectations.

He said the film offered exactly what I was hoping for – thrilling action, exciting adventure, and superhero costumes. It transported me to a place I’d never been before, he added humorously. Leto hinted that the science fiction action would tug at our heartstrings.

Additionally, the actor emphasized the significance of portraying a clear boundary between reality and The Grid. Moreover, he offered his thoughts about the original Nine Inch Nails soundtrack featured in the movie.

In the new Tron universe they’ve crafted, Leto confessed that the band’s music and atmosphere seamlessly fit. Director Joachim Rønning hinted at the film, suggesting it would elicit stronger emotions than anticipated.

Tron: Ares will be released in theaters on October 10, 2025.
