I have a funny story to share! We all enjoy watching cute animal videos, but it’s also hilarious when animals cause a little trouble. Recently, a raccoon in Virginia broke into a liquor store, made a mess of the place, drank some alcohol, and then passed out near the restroom. It reminded me of some wild nights from my college days!
A raccoon caused a bit of a stir at an ABC liquor store in Ashland, Virginia, according to The New York Times. It apparently entered through the ceiling, triggering the store’s alarm and prompting a police response. However, before officers arrived, the raccoon helped itself to various liquors – quite a taste test for an animal! It makes you wonder what raccoons actually like to drink besides water.
According to Virginia ABC’s public relations manager, Carol Mawyer, the raccoon caused a mess, breaking bottles and drinking various alcoholic beverages like rum, moonshine, vodka, peanut butter whiskey, and even eggnog. This rapid consumption quickly intoxicated the animal, and he ultimately passed out in the store’s bathroom – quite a holiday celebration for him!
Police discovered the raccoon at the liquor store, carefully captured him in a crate, and brought him to a shelter for a check-up. Luckily, he wasn’t hurt and was set free to return to his life in the wild – maybe even to share the story with his friends! He probably went home for a long nap, because even raccoons get terrible hangovers.
