The future of Transformers movies continues to stall out.
At the panel during Botcon 2025, director Josh Cooley is said to have disclosed that Paramount isn’t working on a sequel for Transformers One at the moment. This revelation doesn’t come as a shock to fans, considering the movie’s disappointing performance at the box office.
The news originates from an X user and the TFW2005 forums, where enthusiasts are debating Cooley’s comments. Despite being promoted as a new beginning for the series, the animated prequel garnered only $129 million worldwide on a production budget of $75 million, making another installment seem unlikely.

Paramount Transformers plans “murky”
There’s still a lot of mystery shrouding the reported collaboration between Transformers and G.I. Joe for a movie, as no fresh information or confirmations have emerged in several months since Chris Hemsworth was rumored to be involved.
It was discussed earlier that the future plans for Transformers films by Paramount are still unclear, as reported by The Wrap.
It seems increasingly likely that Paramount is temporarily halting work on the Transformers series, or perhaps they are holding off on major decisions until the dust settles following their acquisition of Skydance.
Moreover, the predicament becomes even more challenging due to Hasbro reducing its involvement in movie production and instead directing more attention towards its Magic: The Gathering brand.
2023 saw the release of “Rise of the Beasts”, but it fell short with earnings of just $441 million. This is significantly lower than the Michael Bay blockbusters, which consistently grossed over a billion dollars. In fact, “The Last Knight” from the same franchise peaked at an impressive $605 million.
What’s next for Transformers?
Just announced by Hasbro, the Transformers: Cyberworld animated series and its accompanying toy line will debut next month. This is a brand-new digital series, which will be released on the official Transformers YouTube channel until summer 2026.
