Transformers Eyeing New Project with Studio Trigger; Is It Another Anime?

As a lifelong Transformers fan who grew up watching the original series and collecting every action figure I could get my hands on, the news of the franchise’s 40th anniversary collaboration with Studio Trigger is nothing short of exhilarating! The teaser alone has sent waves of excitement coursing through me.

Since its initial release in 1984, the Transformers series has reached its 40-year milestone, and to mark the occasion, an exciting partnership with Studio Trigger has been announced. In a sneak peek, we catch glimpses of various characters from the franchise; however, no further details have been disclosed as yet. The teaser hints that the Transformers will be making their return soon.

From my perspective as a lifestyle expert, I must admit that, at this moment, there’s no definitive word on whether it’ll be a series, movie, or OVA. However, we’re optimistic that we’ll uncover more information in the forthcoming weeks. Intriguingly brief, the 39-second teaser offers a dazzling montage of Optimus Prime and fellow franchise Autobots.

Since Studio Trigger, famous for creating series like Delicious in Dungeon (2024) and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022), is handling the new project, we’re excitedly anticipating that the trailer (PV) hints at a larger production ahead. We can hardly contain our excitement to witness the collaboration between Hasbro and Takara Tomy IP on our screens! The news was unveiled at the Tokyo Toy Show 2024.

In honor of the anniversary, we’ll also have a chance to watch the upcoming animated movie called “Transformers One.” This film, being the franchise’s first theatrically-released animated feature since “The Transformers: The Movie” in 1986, is set for release by Paramount Pictures in the U.S. on September 20, 2024.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I can’t help but share my excitement about some epic collaborations on the horizon! One such collaboration is the Transformers X Godzilla partnership, made possible by Synergex, who are unveiling an extraordinary collection of figurines blending elements from both franchises. On top of that, Paramount Pictures is cooking up a crossover between Transformers and G.I. Joe, featuring Dukem Snake Eyes, Cobra Commander, and Destroy – making for a blockbuster blend of robots and action heroes. The future is brimming with these kinds of projects, ensuring that fans like us have plenty to look forward to!

With Studio Trigger’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022) being hailed as one of the top sci-fi anime series, there’s a lot of anticipation for the upcoming Transformers project. While it’s just speculation at this point, fans are hoping that Director Hiroyuki Imaishi will be involved. Fans have been vocal about their enthusiasm on various social media platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter). Keep an eye out for further news from the franchise!
