[Trailer] Morena Baccarin Returns to Edgewater in Action-Packed Sheriff Country

At long last, CBS has unveiled the initial teaser for the anticipated spinoff series titled “Sheriff Country“. This new show centers around Morena Baccarin‘s character, Mickey Fox, who made her debut in season 2 of “Fire Country” during the special episode known as “Alert the Sheriff,” which served as a backdoor pilot.

In that specific episode, audiences were introduced to Mickey’s firm demeanor as a sergeant in the Edgewater County Sheriff’s department. Now, she’s taking center stage in her very own series, and judging by the trailer, it seems she’ll have quite a busy time ahead.

In the trailer, we’re immediately thrust into the heat of things as Mickey attempts to resolve a potentially perilous predicament by leveraging her past connections with a crook.

As a cinephile, I found myself immersed in the rapid transitions between the small-town’s intricate tapestry of crime, family feuds, and secrets long forgotten. My character, Mickey, mirrors this complexity in both her professional and personal lives. The bonds with my sister Sharon, skillfully portrayed by Diane Farr, remain strained, with old conflicts lingering like a shadow. For those who recall, I once apprehended Sharon’s son Bode, an event that certainly didn’t improve our relationship dynamics.

In the trailer, we get a glimpse into Mickey’s private struggles as well. She’s overseeing her father’s cannabis farm and doing her best to help her daughter, who has been battling substance abuse issues.

Everything is unfolding as the county’s fresh sheriff takes over, and Sharon offers a reassuring word to her in the trailer, saying, “‘You are Edgewater’s best,’” yet the past tension between them can’t be brushed aside.

In contrast to Fire Country, Sheriff Country concentrates on intimate, personal narratives rather than massive emergencies and intense action scenes. As reported by Us Weekly, who also released the show’s trailer, actress Michele Weaver (playing Mickey’s deputy Cassidy) revealed that this series intentionally adopts a distinct approach. According to her, “It’s not as catastrophic necessarily. It’s more about people issues. What makes it thrilling is witnessing the unique dynamics between the city’s citizens we already know and care for — in a fresh perspective.

The absence of action doesn’t imply inaction. The trailer hints at intense police work, conflicts, and heartfelt encounters. However, Sheriff Country appears to revolve more around the townsfolk of Edgewater than the calamities they endure. It delves into relationships, trust, and how individual histories mold a community.

Filming for the show commenced in Toronto as early as May 2025, marking a shift from the Vancouver backdrop of “Fire Country”. This change was orchestrated to allow Morena Baccarin to be near her family residing in New York. Prior to the start of filming, a dozen scripts had already been penned, ensuring a densely populated first season.

The lineup features Matt Lauria, Christopher Gorham, Michele Weaver, and W. Earl Brown, along with familiar faces from the series “Fire Country” such as Diane Farr.

Beginning October 17, 2025, the new show titled “Sheriff Country” will air on CBS every Friday evening, preceding “Fire Country.” For enthusiasts of the original series, this is a fantastic opportunity to delve further into Edgewater County and follow Mickey Fox as she stars in her own narrative.
