Pixar just dropped the first trailer for Toy Story 5, and it ends with a dramatic question: “Is the time of toys coming to an end…?”
Okay, so the new teaser just dropped, and it’s using INXS’s “Never Tear Us Apart” – instantly giving me chills! It hints at a huge new villain in the Toy Story universe, and honestly, it’s not anyone we’ve seen before. Forget Lotso, Zurg, or even the whole Sunnyside situation – this threat feels totally different and way bigger.
Pixar also released the first poster. Watch the trailer below.

Meet Lilypad: The High-Tech Frog Tablet Taking Over Bonnie’s Room
The new trailer introduces Lilypad, a smart tablet shaped like a frog and voiced by Greta Lee (known for her roles in Past Lives, The Morning Show, and TRON: Ares). Lilypad seems to be filled with apps, animated content, games, and potentially advanced AI features, which could quickly become more appealing than Bonnie’s traditional toys.
Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and the other toys immediately understand their predicament. A new device that can talk, sing, show videos, and keep Bonnie entertained around the clock is simply too much competition.
Lilypad embodies the film’s central idea of “Toys Meet Tech,” and from what we’ve seen, she’s much more than just a villain. She’s a serious competitor who believes toys are outdated.
Returning Cast
The teaser confirms the big three are back:
- Tom Hanks as Woody
- Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear
- Joan Cusack as Jessie
Okay, so Pixar really throws everything at the wall in this one, and I have to say, it mostly sticks! They’ve brought in Conan O’Brien as the voice of ‘Smarty Pants,’ a hilariously chaotic new toy designed to help with potty training. He’s just another layer of delightful mayhem in Bonnie’s already wonderfully messy room, and honestly, he steals every scene he’s in.
O’Brien’s character was introduced at D23, and the preview shows him briefly on screen, hinting at his strange and unusually happy demeanor.
Behind the Scenes
Toy Story 5 is loaded with major Pixar talent:
- Director: Andrew Stanton (WALL·E, Finding Nemo, Finding Dory)
- Co-director: Kenna Harris (Ciao Alberto)
- Producer: Lindsey Collins (Turning Red, WALL·E, Finding Dory)
Just seeing Stanton back involved is exciting for Pixar fans, and the preview instantly captures that classic Pixar feeling.
Release info
Toy Story 5 hits theaters June 19, 2026.
