Andrew Stanton is writing and directing the new movie, with Jessica Choi producing. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and Tony Hale are all returning to voice their beloved characters Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and Forky. Joining them are new cast members Anna Faris, Ernie Hudson, Conan O’Brien, and Greta Lee, who will voice a new character named Lilypad.

Toy Story 5 picks up where the last movie left off, with Woody now helping lost toys find new homes. Back at Bonnie’s house, Jessie is now in charge of the toys, with Buzz Lightyear as her helper. Eight-year-old Bonnie is now really into a new tablet toy shaped like a frog, which adds a new challenge for everyone.
Talk of a fifth Toy Story movie has been going on for years. Tim Allen expressed his enthusiasm back in 2019, and even though Tom Hanks had suggested Toy Story 4 would be the end, a fifth film wasn’t dismissed. Disney officially greenlit the project in February 2023, and Andrew Stanton was confirmed as director in June 2024, also taking on writing duties. This new installment will be the first main Toy Story film made without John Lasseter, a co-creator of the series, who left Pixar in 2018.
Okay, folks, mark your calendars! Toy Story 5 is officially landing in theaters on June 19, 2026. And after seeing the first teaser trailer, I’m already buzzing with anticipation. We’re going to see Woody and the whole crew embark on a brand new adventure, and it looks like they’ll be joined by some really interesting new toy characters. Get ready – this one looks like it’s going to be special!
