Toy Story 5 Gets New Update At D23 Expo With Official FIRST LOOK Marking Return Of Woody, Buzz, Jessie And Squad

As a lifelong fan who’s grown up with the adventures of Woody, Buzz, and their gang, I couldn’t be more thrilled about Disney’s announcement of Toy Story 5! I still remember the magic of the first movie back in ’95, and it feels surreal that we’re now gearing up for a fifth installment.

Disney has ignited enthusiasm among its audience with the formal declaration that Toy Story will be released again, this time at the D23 Expo. The film is slated to premiere in the summer of 2026 and will be directed by Andrew Stanton, renowned for hits such as Finding Nemo and WALL-E. A sneak peek was unveiled by Disney and Pixar at the D23 Expo held in Anaheim, California.

In the upcoming film slated for summer 2026, your beloved characters such as Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie, and their toy companions will continue their adventures. The announcement shares that fans can eagerly anticipate the next chapter in their story with the hashtag #ToyStory5.

In the fifth chapter of the saga, Toy Story, the toys encounter a fresh challenge: electronics. A band of rogue Buzz Lightyear replicas, stuck in their toy forms, will pose a threat to the other toys; this situation bears an uncanny resemblance to a Star Wars Stormtrooper unit on the battlefield.

It seems that after the happenings in Toy Story 4 from 2019, our beloved animated toys, accompanied by some old pals and fresh acquaintances, are gearing up for another thrilling escapade. This time around, Woody, voiced by Tom Hanks, and Buzz Lightyear, voiced by Tim Allen, have parted ways.

In February of 2023, Disney CEO Bob Iger unveiled the scheduled release dates for Toy Story 5, along with the follow-ups to Frozen and Zootopia. The creative head of Pixar, Pete Docter – who collaborated on the script for the first Toy Story film in 1995 – hinted to The Wrap that Toy Story 5 will be unexpectedly intriguing and will feature elements never before seen.
