Pixar has shared the first images of Woody and Buzz Lightyear as they’ll appear in *Toy Story 5*, scheduled to be released in theaters on June 19, 2026.
Woody’s Missing Badge
Fans quickly noticed a key detail — Woody is no longer wearing his sheriff’s badge.
Picking up where *Toy Story 4* left off, Jessie now has Woody’s sheriff badge after he chose to stay with Bo Peep.
The latest picture shows he still doesn’t have it, hinting that the film will keep following Woody as he navigates life outside of Bonnie’s bedroom.
Buzz Gets an Upgrade?
A recent update to Buzz Lightyear’s design includes a small detail: a gold star sticker has been added over his “Lightyear” logo.
Pixar hasn’t explained what it means, but many fans think it might be a reference to Woody, or represent Buzz taking charge of the toys.

Toy Story 5 Release Info
The upcoming movie, *Toy Story 5*, will explore what happens when Bonnie gets a smart tablet, creating conflict with her traditional toys. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack are all reprising their roles as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie.
Okay, so I just got a look at the new addition to Bonnie’s toy box, and let me tell you, it’s…a lot. Conan O’Brien voices Smarty Pants, this ridiculously self-assured, talking potty-training toy, and he’s convinced he’s the brainiest gadget around. The funny thing is, he’s basically a walking, talking collection of terrible dad jokes. What makes it interesting is the contrast – he’s all tech and smarts, and he immediately butts heads with Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, who are, well, a little more classic. He claims to ‘know everything,’ and honestly, his arrival throws Bonnie’s room into complete and utter chaos. It’s a really fun dynamic, watching these old-school toys try to cope with this know-it-all newcomer.
