Total War: Warhammer 3 fans think that Neferata is coming and will be voiced by a BG3 VA

It appears that yesterday’s announcement regarding the postponement of Tides of Torment, the upcoming DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3, was received with a response from the community that Creative Assembly likely would have been pleased with. Not only are players understanding of the fact that additional time equates to better quality, but also the hints of future content offered in the announcement seem to have successfully redirected attention.

As a passionate admirer, I’d express it like this: I, being an avid follower, understand that Creative Assembly (CA) is contemplating novel strategies to introduce beloved Warhammer characters into the game without relying solely on their typical expansion structure, by considering smaller DLCs instead.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m eagerly anticipating the revelation about who the first character might be in our favorite game. The hint dropped by CA suggests that this mystery character is someone very close to us, someone we share blood with – a statement that has left fans buzzing. With intense speculation, many have pointed their fingers at a compelling candidate: Neferata, the Queen of Lamia. Known for her immense power and rich lore, she’s been a fan-favorite character in this setting, but unfortunately, she hasn’t made an appearance in the game yet. Could this be the breakthrough we’ve all been waiting for? Only time will tell!

Besides her renown and the hint of blood, there are other signs that lead fans to believe Neferata might be returning, as well.

In April 2025, voice actress Emma Gregory (famous for portraying Minthara in Baldur’s Gate 3) shared that she was recording lines for a project called CA. It’s possible this job could have been connected to Dechala, a Slaanesh Daemon featured in Tides of Torment. However, Emma Gregory’s prior work lends her a unique suitability for playing Neferata: She narrated the audio version of the book “Neferata: The Dominion of Bones.

It’s plausible that the development process of this prospective DLC might be more progressed than what CD Projekt Red has indicated publicly. Yet, it’s important to remember that the studio often records voiceovers for characters well before they are officially announced. In fact, the IMDb page for the game already lists some voice actors for units and characters not yet confirmed, such as Tigermen and Taoyan the Merciless.

To sum up, while it’s purely speculative that Neferata will join Total War: Warhammer 3 and be voiced by Emma Gregory, there’s definitely some substance to these rumors. We can expect official updates during the Total War 25th Anniversary Showcase this year.
