As a dedicated follower of the glamorous world of Hollywood, I find myself deeply moved by Tori Spelling‘s heartfelt journey on Dancing With the Stars. Her decision to participate in this season, driven by the inspiring words and memory of her dear friend Shannen Doherty, resonates with a profound sense of strength and resilience that is truly captivating.
I, Tori Spelling, am honored to carry a piece of my cherished friend and co-star, Shannen Doherty, as I step onto the dance floor for Dancing With the Stars. As we prepare to compete and make waves in the ballroom with my partner, Pasha Pashkov, I’m reminded of the precious moments we shared before her passing from cancer this past July.
Shared revealed on numerous occasions that she was given opportunities to appear on Dancing With the Stars, yet this time around, she accepted due to Doherty’s phrasing resonating with her present phase in life, during which she aims to make positive changes and rediscover herself.
In her own words, Spelling explained that she had been hesitant before, as fear held her back. However, on this occasion, she recognized that the very things she feared might be precisely the forces driving her towards personal growth and progress.
Despite this, her five kids expressed quite contrasting feelings upon learning about their mother’s weekly stage performances. It is said that they are concerned she could potentially injure herself during the strenuous routines, given her infrequent exercise habits.
“They asked, ‘Mom, are you really going to dance? Will you be alright?’ To which I replied, ‘We’ll find out!'” (said)
The actress made clear that she was not only planning to take part in the contest, but also aimed to emerge victorious. She shared with Entertainment Weekly that it would hold great significance for her if they, along with Pashkov, were the ones to be awarded the Mirrorball Trophy at the conclusion of the competition.
Doherty passed away on July 13 at age 53 after a long battle with breast cancer. At the time, Spelling penned a heartfelt note for her friend on social media, describing them as “each other’s wing women, true confidantes, support systems navigating bad relationships,” and more. The duo had been estranged for several years before renewing their friendship prior to Doherty’s passing.
“It is definitely a hard time doing the show with all the excitement, having lost Shan so recently. But I remember how much she loved doing it,” Spelling said to reporters, referencing Doherty’s appearance on the show during season 10.
Dancing With the Stars premieres on September 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and Disney+.
Apart from Spelling, viewers can expect to see Phaedra Parks, Danny Amendola, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Chandler Kinney, Anna Delvey, Eric Roberts, Brooks Nader, Reginald VelJohnson, Jenn Tran, Dwight Howard, and Stephen Nedoroscik dancing a two-step with their respective partners on the show.
