Moving on, we’re gearing up for another installment of the Top Gun series, and director Joseph Kosinski has dropped an intriguing hint! Following the blockbuster hit, Top Gun: Maverick in 2022 that saw the return of Tom Cruise as the iconic Maverick, training a fresh batch of aviators, cinema enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating the sequel’s details.

Now, Top Gun 3 is officially in the works, and Kosinski is returning to direct.

During a conversation with ScreenRant in an interview regarding his upcoming movie “F1: The Movie”, Kosinski disclosed that the script for the third installment of “Top Gun” is yet to be finalized.

Ehren Kruger is in charge of the screenplay, having previously contributed to the film “Maverick”. Although Daniel Kosinski kept the specifics of the plot under wraps, he did suggest that the narrative revolves around a grand and daring concept.

As a passionate admirer, let me share that Ehren Kruger is currently penning the script right now. This concept has been in the works for nearly a year, with some brilliant minds from the Navy and Lockheed Martin as my collaborators. And yes, he’s on board now, so we eagerly anticipate seeing where this creative journey takes us.

As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I must admit that “Top Gun: Maverick” seemed to wrap up the narrative beautifully. However, Kosinski’s enthusiasm for the concept of a third film was so infectious that it became impossible for him to resist its allure.

He mentioned that the concept he was developing felt like another intriguing hurdle. It was something that expanded the narrative in a captivating way, making it hard to resist. And what makes this idea particularly thrilling is its grandness,” he noted.

The highly-acclaimed film “Top Gun: Maverick” garnered praise from esteemed directors, including Quentin Tarantino who lauded it as “fantastic” and reminiscent of authentic cinema magic. He noted that the movie demonstrated a deep reverence for Tony Scott, the director of the original “Top Gun“. Tarantino expressed that the entire film seemed like a heartfelt tribute to Tony Scott.

Additionally, Steven Spielberg commended the film, stating that it significantly contributed to the revival of movie theaters following a challenging period in the cinema industry.

Ridley Scott, being Tony Scott’s sibling, had the opportunity to watch the film ahead of time. He commended it and expressed that Tom Cruise did an excellent job in paying tribute to Tony.

However, not everyone found it favorable. Director Fede Álvarez shared that Ridley Scott himself rated the film as merely “so-so,” preferring the original. Yet, he acknowledged and appreciated the latest production.

The movie was dedicated to Tony Scott’s memory.

Back in May 2022, I shared that I’d been putting forth ideas for a sequel, tentatively named “Top Gun: Rooster,” to Paramount Pictures. By July of the same year, I found myself engaged in continuous talks with Tom Cruise about a potential sequel.

As a movie enthusiast, I can hardly contain my anticipation for the upcoming installment of the iconic “Top Gun” series. Though specifics about the release date and storyline remain undisclosed, one fact is crystal clear: Tom Cruise will reprise his role as Maverick, a character we all know and love. With the original team working tirelessly to craft a fresh chapter in this action-packed saga, it’s no surprise that fans are buzzing with excitement.
