From the beginning, Ryuk warns Light that a Shinigami will ultimately write down the name of the Death Note’s owner when their time is up. He follows through on this promise without fail once Light goes too far. This action adheres to Shinigami rules, as they avoid interfering in human affairs until the very end. Their connection concludes as simply as it started – with a name written on a page.
Relationship With Rem
Ryuk and Rem are both Shinigami, but they see humans very differently. Rem becomes fiercely protective of Misa Amane, while Ryuk remains detached and views humans as a source of amusement. This difference highlights how adaptable Shinigami can be, even while following the same rules. It also helps us understand Ryuk’s actions without suggesting he’s taking sides.
Voice And Performance
Ryuk’s character is brought to life through both his design and the performance of his voice actors. In the original Japanese version, Nakamura Shidou provides the voice, while Brian Drummond voices him in the English dub.
