‘Too Much at Stake’: Carole King Participates In Swifties For Kamala Harris Organizing Call, Helps Raise USD 122,000

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for music and politics, I find Carole King’s involvement in the Swifties for Kamala organizing call truly inspiring. Her life experience as a legendary songwriter and activist adds an authenticity to her message that resonates deeply.

Notable musician and vocalist Carole King joined the Swifties for Kamala mobilization effort.

During the call, participants were invited to take part in door-to-door campaigning and support both Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz for the 2024 presidential elections. It is essential to clarify that this event had no affiliation with musician Taylor Swift, the artist behind Cruel Summer. The fundraising calls, which took place on Tuesday via Zoom, requested donations of $19.89 and $13.

In this setting, the artist, renowned for hits like “You’ve Got a Friend,” “It’s Too Late,” “Fire and Rain,” among others, presented herself as a long-standing political advocate and a dedicated volunteer. She emphasized the importance of having a compelling opening statement, saying, “Hello, I’d like to discuss what matters most in your life and what you aspire for in the future.”

In terms of door-knocking details, Carole King emphasized that an essential part of this action involves posing thoughtful questions and attentively considering the answers given.

27,000 individuals participated in the door-knocking call, with Carole King subsequently inspiring them to foster meaningful connections.

Later, the singer who created “I Feel the Earth Move” elaborated on the concept of a bridge builder by posing this question: “What points of agreement might you share with Kamala Harris?”

In her speech, while encouraging the attendees, King also asked them to not be afraid, as there was a lot to gain and nothing to lose, adding, “There’s too much at stake.”

As Carole King neared the conclusion of her speech, she paid tribute to the I Knew You Were Trouble singer, likening Swift to a granddaughter in the music world. Intriguingly, King was overheard belting out the catchy chorus from Taylor Swift’s renowned song Shake It Off.

Previously, Taylor Swift, the singer behind “Look What You Made Me Do,” honored Carole King by inducting her into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for her significant contributions to music with the song “Child of Mine.”

Back then, Taylor Swift had performed a cover of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow.

The group “Swifties for Kamala” introduced their first line of merchandise as a token of appreciation after gathering $70,000 in donations. This merchandise offered the chance to vote for both Kamala and Taylor Swift, and it managed to raise more than expected, accumulating $100,000, then $113,000, and finally reaching $122,000.

Participants on the call included Senators Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Ed Markey, along with Representatives Chris Deluzio from Pennsylvania and Becca Balint from Vermont, as well as others.
