Tony Nominations 2025: Maybe Happy Ending, Death Becomes Her, Buena Vista Social Club Lead With 10 Nods; Full List

This year’s 78th Tony Award ceremony will celebrate and acknowledge outstanding achievements in live theater performances on Broadway. The darkly humorous play “Death Becomes Her,” which centers around two rivals desperate to maintain their youth, has garnered a total of ten nominations.

Competing closely with Death Becomes on Broadway are the shows Maybe Happy Ending and Buena Vista Social Club, each receiving ten nominations. The musical comedy Maybe Happy Ending, penned by Will Aronson and Hue Park, is set in a future version of Seoul.

The Buena Vista Social Club represents a lively musical narrative that honors Cuban musicians. In the Best Musical category, it’s competing alongside three other plays: Dead Outlaw and Operation Mincemeat – A New Musical.

As a devoted musical enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that this year’s top revival contenders are none other than Floyd Collins, Gypsy, Pirates! Penzance Musical, and Sunset Blvd. These nominees boast an impressive lineup of Hollywood’s elite stars. Joining them is George Clooney, making his Tony Award debut as a first-timer on Broadway, gracing the stage for Good Night and Good Luck.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that Sadie Sink from Stranger Things has been nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in John Proctor is the Villain. Meanwhile, Bob Odenkirk has also received a well-deserved nomination for his performance in Glengarry Glen Ross. Fast forward to June 8, 2025, when the Tony Awards will take center stage at Radio City Music Hall. The esteemed Cynthia Erivo, Wicked star and Tony winner herself, will grace us with her presence as the host for this grand event.
