Toni Braxton had to cut her performance short during a recent concert in Minneapolis. The 58-year-old singer is currently touring with New Edition and Boyz II Men, and the show at the Target Center was on Sunday, March 22nd.
Although she typically performs a lively nine-song set, fans were worried when she left the stage early. The next day, March 23rd, Braxton explained on Instagram that she had a sudden personal issue that forced her to stop.
She apologized to her fans, saying, “I am so sorry I wasn’t able to finish the show last night. I had an unexpected personal emergency and had no choice but to step away.” She added that she hated not being able to give her all to the audience and appreciated their support, saying, “You deserved my everything, and I hate that I couldn’t give it to you. I feel your love from here. Thank you for understanding.”

Although details about her recent health issue haven’t been released, the Grammy-winning artist has often spoken about how demanding touring is on her body. She was diagnosed with lupus in 2008 and has faced several health challenges since, including heart surgery in 2022.
During her Las Vegas shows in 2024, she shared her concerns about balancing a chronic illness with the rigors of performing live. The mother of two prioritizes finding a healthy balance between work and self-care while on tour.
She once explained, “I just try to pace myself. Pacing is really important, and I know when to rest if I’m pushing too hard.” Even with a careful routine, she’s noted that it can be hard to recognize the stress of a major tour until it becomes too much.
Toni Braxton has been keeping busy with her career, recently starring in the Lifetime movie Toni Braxton’s Breathe Again, which aired in January. This is the second movie she’s made with Lifetime, and it tells the story of three friends dealing with the aftermath of a tough experience on a reality show. She’s also a producer on these films, which often draw inspiration from her own music.
In her personal life, her relationship with Birdman has been in the spotlight. There were reports in April 2025 that they had secretly married in August 2024, but a divorce filing was quickly withdrawn. As of now, they are still married and continue to support each other’s work in music and film.
Fans are still hoping the singer will be able to finish the tour once she’s dealt with her personal issues. Right now, everyone is focused on her getting better and taking care of herself as she goes through this difficult time in her career.
