Discussing a hypothetical scenario here: Given that Spider-Man is undeniably one of the most iconic superheroes in both comic books and movie adaptations, with portrayals by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland on the big screen, an intriguing question arises: if these three incarnations of Spidey were to engage in a battle, who would ultimately emerge victorious? This is purely speculative, but let’s consider their unique abilities and characteristics.
In the areas where Spider-Man from Holland’s portrayal may not excel as much, he’s still in contention, or very near the top in terms of strength. His technology surpasses that of the previous two Peter Parkers, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they wouldn’t hold their own. Let’s strive to evaluate objectively, although it might be challenging with these three interpretations.
Web-Shooting
As a devoted film enthusiast, I find it quite intriguing to delve into the unique interpretations of Spider-Man across various universes. On the surface, they all share the same extraordinary abilities, but upon closer inspection, their uses and manifestations subtly differ. This divergence offers an exciting opportunity to dissect the nuances that set each Spider-Man apart, ultimately allowing us to determine which version’s powers reign supreme in their respective worlds.
First, let’s talk about their web-shooters.
In contrast to the other three characters, Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of Peter Parker doesn’t rely on artificial web-shooters. Instead, he has a unique ability to create spider webs naturally, which emerge from his wrists. It is only this part of his body where the webbing appears, as clearly demonstrated in the last Spider-Man movie.
He effortlessly creates websites, much like breathing for him. It’s almost second nature and done without conscious thought or intention. He seldom faces the issue of running out of web, except for that one time when, as Tobey described, he had an “existential dilemma.” However, Maguire’s Parker is typically not short on web – just like a spider, his body continues to produce it naturally.
Alternatively, instead of inheriting web-shooters like previous Spider-Men, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland develop their own in a lab. First, they construct the device, followed by creating artificial webbing. This version of Spidey relies more on technology and their own ingenuity to produce the web.
As a movie lover, I’d put it this way: They, Andrew and Tom, have the freedom to customize their web-tech according to their needs. For example, Garfield fortified his webs against electricity to combat Electro’s powers. Yet, they often find themselves running low on webbing, requiring frequent reloads of their web-shooters.
Because of that, Tobey Maguire’s Spidey takes this category.

Spider-Sense
As a devoted fan, I must admit that comparing the Spider-Senses among the Parkers can be quite intricate. Each one of them exhibited an astonishingly powerful Spider-Sense at some point, but there was a slight discrepancy in their overall performance.
At first, Tom Holland’s Spider-Sense wasn’t particularly strong. But he deliberately chose to rely on his gut feelings, and over time, he honed a remarkable ability to rely on and control his Spider-Sense.
In an attempt to confuse him, Mysterio relentlessly hurled illusions from every angle, sometimes making it challenging to distinguish reality. However, Holland’s Parker struggled at first, but once he understood that his Spider-Sense reacted instinctively, he managed to break through the illusions and defeat Mysterio on two separate instances.
In the final confrontation with Mysterio, Spider-Man, or Holland, found himself in a challenging situation without his web-shooters, facing an army of drones capable of casting illusions and armed with weaponry. Remarkably, he distinguished truth from illusion and skillfully evaded every bullet and drone, masterfully utilizing his Spider-Sense to outmaneuver his adversary. From that moment on, his Spider-Sense, often referred to as the “Peter tingle,” reached unprecedented levels of heightened awareness.
In the film, Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Sense was truly exceptional, but what made it stand out was his lightning-fast reflexes. The Spider-Sense enabled Garfield to appear as though he was observing the world at a snail’s pace – so slow that he could evade electricity, which moves at the speed of light. It might seem unbelievable, but that was the case in the movie.
In summary, Tobey Maguire seems to have a knack for sensing danger ahead and reacting quickly, although not quite as impressively as Tom or Andrew in terms of showcased abilities. To date, he’s demonstrated agility by jumping over the Goblin Glider and performing backflips from his motorcycle, but we haven’t witnessed feats as extraordinary as dodging electric shocks or dismantling illusions with closed eyes.
Consequently, it appears that Tobey’s Spider-Sense might be the least potent (or at least it appears that way), so Tom and Andrew receive the points instead.

Fighting Skills
It’s undeniable that each of these three Spidermen excel in combat, leveraging their speed, power, and Spider-Sense to subdue their adversaries. However, their fighting styles vary somewhat.
Tobey’s portrayal of Spider-Man showcases exceptional martial arts skills. He frequently engaged in battles against adversaries stronger than himself, consistently demonstrating an impressive level of physical strength during close combat. Moreover, he prefers to minimize the use of his webs in fights.
Andrew frequently employs a web-based approach during fights, focusing more on immobilizing opponents rather than physically defeating them. However, it’s important to note that he is capable of engaging in physical combat – just look at how he overpowered the formidable Rhino. Generally, though, he relies on his intellect rather than his martial arts skills.
In summary, among all of them, it’s likely that Tom stands out as the most agile combatant due to his impressive acrobatics. He leaps, twirls, somersaults, and performs stunts, yet he never hesitates to throw a punch or take one.
Demonstrating an impressive blend of power and agility, he successfully deflected a punch from the Winter Soldier using just one arm – a clear indication of his capabilities. Moreover, he’s no stranger to teamwork, having joined forces with the Avengers on multiple occasions. Furthermore, his advanced suits endow him with additional combat skills and features, such as the lethal ‘instant-kill’ option.
Generally speaking, Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of Spider-Man appears to be the most proficient in hand-to-hand combat, whereas Tom Holland’s version excels in fighting skills, acrobatics, and has the best technology and experience among the three. Both receive high marks for their abilities in this category.

Strength & Speed
To evaluate the strength and swiftness of each Spiderman, we’ve got well-defined benchmarks that help us gauge their overall power.
I’ve always been in awe of Tobey Maguire’s portrayal of Spider-Man, especially his character Peter Parker. You know those moments when he halts a colossal train using just his agility and webbing? Well, let me tell you, it’s not all about brute strength as it may seem. It’s more about endurance, the ability to keep going despite the immense challenge at hand. After all, stopping a vehicle that weighs around 70 tons, carrying countless passengers, undeniably requires an extraordinary amount of power.
Regarding his speed, it hasn’t been particularly noteworthy yet. Tobey’s ability to traverse the city at high speeds is certainly there, but other Spider-Men can match that. In terms of unique abilities, he primarily relies on his Spider-Sense reflexes with little else to set him apart.
In my humble opinion as a film critic, among the trio of Spider-Men gracing our screens, Andrew Garfield’s agility is undeniably lightning-fast. He deftly evaded electrical surges, suggesting reflexes that could rival the speed of lightning itself. Time and again, we witnessed his unique ability to perceive the world in a slowed-down fashion, giving him an edge in thinking, reacting, and moving at speeds that outpace even the other two cinematic Spider-Men.
Despite not being on the same level as Tobey or Tom’s strength, he demonstrated incredible power by effortlessly lifting and tossing a police car overhead. However, there was a moment early in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 where it appeared he had difficulty stopping a truck. As such, while he’s exceptionally strong, he’s clearly not at Tobey’s level of strength.
Ultimately, among the three Spideys, Tom is the most powerful. After his boat was split in two, he miraculously managed to keep it intact. A massive building collapsed on him, yet he effortlessly hoisted it off his chest. Incredibly, during Infinity War, he even held Thanos’ arm single-handedly for a brief moment. Furthermore, his nano-suit adds to his already formidable strength.
He had shown a lot of speed and quickness, too, but nowhere near dodging electricity like Andrew.
Consequently, Tom exhibits greater strength as Spider-Man, whereas Andrew excels in speed. Tobey’s not too far off, but he hasn’t quite reached their level yet. So, each gets a point for their respective abilities.

Enemies
Finally, the last category we’ll check out is the enemies they’ve fought.
In a series of battles, Tobey Maguire faced off against villains like Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Sandman, The New Goblin, and the formidable Venom. It’s particularly noteworthy that Venom is his most powerful alien-level adversary, making this feat even more impressive.
Instead, let me rephrase that for you: Andrew encountered enemies such as the Lizard, Electro, The Gentleman, Green Goblin (Harry Osborn’s version), Alistair Smythe, and Rhino. While it’s a considerable number, some might argue that this group is the least formidable among the three Spider-Men’s rogues.
Tom Holland truly excels in his performances, especially when it comes to tackling formidable foes. In his solo films, he battles adversaries like the Vulture and Mysterio. Yet, in Captain America: Civil War, he squares off against heavyweights such as Captain America, Black Panther, Bucky Barnes, and more. However, the most challenging opponent by far is Thanos – the one who eliminated half the universe, making him the toughest adversary Tom Holland has faced to date.
1) In terms of formidable opponents, Tom Holland’s Spidey would come out on top regardless, assuming he battled solely against Thanos and no one else.

Tom Vs. Tobey Vs. Andrew: Who Wins in a Fight of Spider-Men?
Ultimately, it’s Tom Holland’s Spider-Man who emerges victorious in the face-off against his counterparts, Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Andrew Garfield’s. Tom racked up a total of four points, while Tobey and Andrew each earned two points apiece.
Each portrayal of Spider-Man has its unique strengths, and it’s possible to defend any one as ultimately triumphant. But when considering the broader context, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man boasts the most sophisticated technology and has faced the toughest battles against the fiercest adversaries.
As a movie critic, I’d say Tom Holland’s portrayal of Spider-Man stands out as the most formidable iteration yet. His Spidey-Sense appears finely tuned, arguably serving him better than any other. Moreover, he’s mastered its use to a tee, and this adaptability makes him an exceptional fighter, whether he’s battling solo or as part of a team.
In my opinion, Holland emerges victorious in about six out of ten encounters when matched against either Maguire or Garfield, whereas both Maguire and Garfield win approximately two out of ten bouts each.
