Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, had a near miss when their house in Pacific Palisades barely escaped damage during the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
In 2010, the couple acquired a property worth $26 million that remained unscathed by the fire. Unfortunately, a lavish mansion situated on the cliffside above their own house was completely razed to the ground.
Chet Hanks, who’s part of a family with strong ties to the area, recently posted on Instagram sharing his worries. His message read: “The neighborhood I used to call home is currently in flames.” He added a plea for well-wishers to keep the Palisades in their prayers.
Previously, Hanks and Wilson were the owners of a Spanish-style villa located in Pacific Palisades, which they bought as newlyweds back in 1929. They eventually decided to sell it in 2014 for $5 million, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Apart from his acting career, this actor is known to have a 1,800-square-foot vacation home in Malibu, which he bought back in 1991. It’s hard to say for certain whether this house escaped the fire damage that hit the area.
Since Tuesday, the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles have wreaked havoc and destruction. Notable personalities such as Paris Hilton, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Leighton Meester along with her partner Adam Brody, unfortunately, found their residences engulfed by the flames.
