On Saturday, May 10, Tom Ellis announced that he’ll start filming for season 3 of Hulu’s Tell Me Lies during a visit to CBS Fest in Los Angeles. In this series, he portrays Oliver, a charismatic yet married professor who finds himself the target of Bree, played by Catherine Missal.
The actor confirmed he will return, explaining that he’ll be heading back on Saturday for filming. He also hinted at an exciting development, stating that viewers won’t be left feeling let down with the upcoming season premiere as he has already previewed the first four episodes.
Ellis said to the source that it remains as gloomy, harmful, and amusing as before. And when one might think our characters couldn’t act any more absurdly, they somehow manage to outdo themselves.
In a recent reveal, Ellis, the spouse of Meghan Oppenheimer, the mastermind behind the show “Tell Me Lies,” hinted that character Oliver will experience numerous opportunities for redemption in season 3. For those who might be unfamiliar with the series, it’s important to note that Oliver’s wife, Marianne, portrayed by Gabriella Pession, has long been aware of his affair with Bree and understands that this isn’t the first time he’s been unfaithful in their marriage.
The performer labeled his character, Oliver, as “reprehensible,” confessing that he had a hard time envisioning his redemptive scenes since he feels undeserving of such opportunities.
When questioned about portraying a complex character, he disclosed that he often recalls his true identity, yet it continues to influence him. Reflecting on his professional journey, he expressed a preference for not acknowledging the characters he played as points of pride, as they don’t align with his personal beliefs.
According to Oppenheimer, Season 3 of the show will span the years from 2008 to 2015. In a recent interview with Variety, it was disclosed that Bree will take on more responsibility in the upcoming season and break things off permanently with Oliver.
At present, Ellis is engaged in the development of a fresh FBI spinoff by CBS, titled “CIA.” This series is set to make its debut on television screens towards the end of the current year.
