At the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in 2018, The Elder Scrolls VI was initially unveiled through a cinematic trailer. This upcoming game is being developed by Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios as a title for next-generation platforms.
For nearly seven years now, no formal updates beyond the initial trailer have been shared with us, even though enthusiasts haven’t hesitated to inquire about it repeatedly.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can hardly contain my excitement while I share this news about The Elder Scrolls series. During the recent unveiling of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, Todd Howard gave us another glimpse into the development journey of The Elder Scrolls VI.
During a recent live stream, Todd Howard affirmed yet again that the upcoming installment in the Elder Scrolls RPG series is still being worked on.
Clearly, we’re immersed in crafting the sixth chapter, but what makes The Elder Scrolls series so remarkable is that it allows us to reflect on all its chapters – Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, Daggerfall, Arena. Each installment strives to redefine role-playing games and open-world games for their respective eras.
Recently, a Reddit user noted an interesting fact: the gap since the announcement of The Elder Scrolls VI has been more extensive than the timeframe between the launch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and the unveiling of The Elder Scrolls VI. That’s quite an extraordinary milestone, wouldn’t you agree?
The Long Wait For The Elder Scrolls VI Continues
Previously, Todd Howard himself expressed some doubt about whether it was wise to announce The Elder Scrolls VI as early as they did.
In relation to the Activision Blizzard acquisition lawsuit, a Microsoft file disclosed that The Elder Scrolls VI was intended to bypass the PlayStation 5 and instead debut exclusively on PC and Xbox platforms at some point beyond 2026.
Given Microsoft’s current strategy changes, there’s a strong likelihood that The Elder Scrolls VI may debut on the PlayStation 5 eventually, potentially even sharing the same release date.
Regardless, it’s likely that The Elder Scrolls VI will take several years to complete, given the extensive development work involved. Fans might need to exercise some patience and hope that the project comes to fruition before the current console generation ends.
For now, feel free to savor the reworked edition of a timeless role-playing game from this series, known for its cult following. Regrettably, even it has not been spared from Bethesda’s business strategies. However, you can certainly take pleasure in earning accomplishments and badges during your playthrough!
