It seems like the next film based on Super Mario Bros. could potentially be called “Super Mario World”, as suggested in a press release by NBCUniversal prior to editing out that particular detail.
In the discussion, it was pointed out that Super Mario World is set to appear in forthcoming films which will later be accessible through the streaming platform, Peacock, after their initial cinema screenings.
“A thrilling selection of movies was showcased, hailing from Universal Pictures, Focus Features, DreamWorks Animation, and Illumination studios. These included sequels such as Megan 2.0, Nobody 2, Bad Guys 2, How to Train Your Dragon, as well as Downton Abbey: The Final Chapter, Black Phone 2, HIM, and The Phoenician Plot.”
Prior to the revision, the list mentioned “Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions” following The Phoenician Scheme.
Or simply:
In its original form, it listed “Super Mario World, Shrek, and Minions” after The Phoenician Scheme.
Super Mario World is another popular Mario game from the SNES era, which stars the adorable dinosaur character Yoshi. You might remember him as the dinosaur hinted at in the bonus scene of the Super Mario Bros. movie. Now, it’s starting to make sense!
Super Mario World is set to be released on April 3, 2026.
