The anticipated hack ‘n slay action RPG, Titan Quest 2, which was originally scheduled for a Winter 2024/25 release, has been postponed without prior notice. Publisher THQ Nordic has officially confirmed the decision to move the Early Access launch to Summer 2025, citing the desire to steer clear of the busy action RPG release season early in the year to ensure the game gets the attention it needs and deserves.
THQ Nordic clarified that the decision to cancel the Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition wasn’t due to any issues with the game itself. Instead, they appreciated the immense positive response from players during the demo playtest, where over 92% of participants rated their experience positively or very positively. The feedback from long-time Titan Quest fans was particularly uplifting as they commended the game for preserving the essence of the original while incorporating updated mechanics. This is according to a statement released by THQ Nordic.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed some spots where the game could use a bit more cooking time in the oven. Even the publishers have acknowledged this, mentioning that they’re focusing on improving areas like combat flow, aiming precision, and balance, as well as performance optimizations to ensure a smoother gaming experience for us players.
Feedback from the ongoing playtesting is being incorporated, which encompasses “personalized control layouts” and “improved visual cues.
2006’s Titan Quest gets a follow-up, taking players back to an alternate Ancient Greece where mythology isn’t just stories but living entities. Here, gods and monsters engage in their own battles against humanity. In terms reminiscent of games like Diablo, Titan Quest is known for its extensive character development options and customizable abilities, a feature the sequel aims to preserve and enhance.
In their message, the studio in Munich expressed gratitude for your valuable feedback as they work on Titan Quest 2, which is currently being readied for Early Access while addressing any concerns raised. While some enhancements may take more time than others, they are dedicated to producing a follow-up that upholds the original Titan Quest’s legacy while incorporating innovative concepts. To give you an idea, the survey shows that most of you would recommend the game to friends, indicating a solid base for us to build upon. Once again, thank you for your backing and candid feedback. Your gameplay and discussions about it have fueled our determination to provide an exceptional gaming experience!
In summer of 2025, an early access version of Titan Quest 2 will be available on personal computers. The complete game is expected to be released later on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles at a later date.
