On a lighter note, who knows? Maybe one day we’ll even see Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning on a talk show, holding space for Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo! Now that would be an unforgettable moment!

Currently, Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning are traveling on a promotional tour for their film titled “A Complete Unknown.” On December 28, they had an engaging conversation with Tracy Gilchrist from Out magazine, who became popular in November after interviewing the stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo from Wicked.

In the start of their interview, when Tracy made a reference to the popular meme using the phrase “holding space,” both Chalamet and Fanning confessed they were starstruck. The journalist then extended a symbolic gesture by saying, “First, I’m here for you.” In response, Chalamet extended his index finger, and Fanning gently pinched it between her thumb and pointer finger – a move reminiscent of the interaction between the Wicked co-stars.

In a state of awe, Chalamet continued, “It’s a privilege to converse with you; I almost feel starstruck.” Later, the actress from Maleficent commented, “Nothing we can do can surpass what has already transpired, if you catch my drift.

In a non-viral conversation, Tracy shared with Grande and Erivo that members of the LGBTQ+ community found a sense of connection in the “holding space” lyric from Defying Gravity’s musical number within the film. As Erivo was elaborating on its significance to her, Grande maintained her focus by gently clutching her index finger.

In an interview with Variety, Grande shared that she believed her Wicked co-star was on the verge of tears, so she offered comfort by holding her hand. “I simply wanted to be present because I knew a significant moment was unfolding,” she stated about supporting Erivo by gently tapping her long acrylic nail on her hand.

Initially, the performer-artist acknowledged her confusion about the term “holding space,” as Erivo appeared moved and stated, “I hadn’t realized that was occurring.” Later on, the music artist expressed feeling “comforted” by the fact that online viewers were similarly puzzled by their exchange. At one point, she suggested, “The most effective approach is to truly create a space for that situation,” she said earlier.

Chalamet and Fanning have teamed up for a second film project together, having previously worked on Woody Allen’s 2019 romantic comedy A Rainy Day in New York. In the recently released Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, Chalamet takes on the role of Dylan, while Fanning portrays Sylvie Russo, one of his love interests. This film premiered in theaters on December 25th.
