Want me to watch something? Just say “Tim Robinson.” That’s all it takes. Like many comedy fans, I’m instantly hooked whenever he’s involved – I was planning to watch his new HBO show, *The Chair Company*, the moment I heard about it. While knowing he’s in it is enough, the trailer only confirmed I’m in for the wonderfully chaotic and hilarious experience I’ve come to expect from him.
This story has all the elements of a classic conspiracy: a potentially unbelievable truth, a possibly unstable main character – or someone who was never quite right to begin with – and a world that feels equally chaotic. And, importantly, it’s full of dramatic shouting.
Okay, so the big question with this new HBO series starring Jermaine Fowler is: what pushes his character, William Ronald Trosper, over the edge? The show’s premise is simple enough – a guy messes up at work, and that mistake leads him down a rabbit hole of conspiracy. It sounds like a classic setup, and I’m really curious to see what triggers this whole chain of events for Trosper.
This new show comes from Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin, who previously created *I Think You Should Leave*. The cast includes Lake Bell as Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis as Natalie Trosper, Will Price as Seth Trosper, and Joseph Tudisco as Mike Santini. Lou Diamond Phillips will appear in a recurring role as Jeff Levjman. Adam McKay and Todd Schulman from HyperObject Industries are also executive producers, along with Robinson and Kanin.
Honestly, the premise is wild – a chair company involved in a huge conspiracy? But when I heard Tim Robinson was part of it, I was immediately hooked! That’s all the convincing I needed. I’m definitely tuning in when *The Chair Company* premieres on HBO October 12th at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific.
