As a long-time admirer and follower of Tim Allen’s illustrious career, I can confidently say that his return as Buzz Lightyear for Toy Story 5 is nothing short of thrilling. With over three decades in the industry, Tim Allen has proven his versatility as an actor, from Home Improvement to Last Man Standing, and now back to the beloved Pixar franchise.

Once again, Tim Allen takes off on a new journey as the interstellar action figure, Buzz Lightyear. Not too long ago, this renowned performer disclosed significant news regarding the upcoming installment of the beloved Toy Story series and his part within it.

Speaking with Collider, the actor from Last Man Standing mentioned that he completed a five-hour acting session for his character around a week back.

As an over-the-moon enthusiast, let me share with you some exciting news! Tim Allen himself hinted at the upcoming sequel of our beloved Pixar franchise, and he mentioned it’s going to be a “mind-blowingly smart tale.

Further elaborating, Allen mentioned that the production team has grand ambitions for the upcoming installment of the animated series, emphasizing that they’re not merely making it for financial gain.

Allen asserted that while they certainly hoped for success, they didn’t do it just for that reason. If their idea hadn’t been an exceptional script, they wouldn’t have undertaken the project and they wouldn’t have contacted him or Tom,” Allen argued.

Emphasizing once more that Toy Story 5 is exceptionally smart, Tim Allen, known for his role as the Kranks in Christmas, further expressed his gratitude for being the voice behind Buzz Lightyear.

After that, they shared their thoughts, mentioning that the film promises to be entertaining, with an added comment “We’re about a year away,” and revealing they have reached the final stage of the project, which is the third act.

Despite Tim Allen stating that there’s still plenty of work left to do, production will revisit his recording, as they have five more takes remaining.

1995 saw the debut of the first Toy Story movie, which immediately soared to popularity, earning over $390 million globally. Subsequently, there were three additional films in the series and most recently, in 2022, a Buzz Lightyear spinoff titled Lightyear was launched.

Toy Story 5 will be released on June 19, 2026.
