Thunderbolts* Teaser Reveals Yelena Belova’s New Look for 2025 Release

As a dedicated Marvel enthusiast with a heart that beats for the captivating characters of the MCU, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of Florence Pugh’s return as Yelena Belova in Thunderbolts*. My journey through the Marvel universe has been nothing short of thrilling, and Yelena’s transformation from a grieving sister to an integral part of the MCU has been one of my favorite arcs.

As a dedicated follower, I’m thrilled to share a special glimpse into the 2024 D23 Expo that hints at Florence Pugh’s anticipated comeback as Yelena Belova within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This sneak peek has ignited even greater enthusiasm among fans, as Pugh’s portrayal of Yelena Belova in the MCU has been praised for resonating with the passionate fan base that the Marvel community has shown towards this character. In Hollywood, she has solidified her leading status. You can look forward to seeing Pugh again on the big screen in an upcoming MCU film, specifically Thunderbolts*, since her last appearance was in Black Widow (2021).

As reported by Fandango, the Disney Entertainment Showcase panel at D23 Expo began with a preview reel showcasing glimpses of some forthcoming projects. The reel emphasized stories from Marvel’s past. One notable moment in the reel was a brief, significant appearance of Yelena Belova at the 1 minute and 53 second mark, who looked more like Black Widow than ever before. This previously unseen footage is from the upcoming Thunderbolts movie.

In the last appearance of Yelena, she was seen in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, trying to kill Clint Barton under the belief that he was responsible for her sister Natasha’s death. However, once Clint and Kate Bishop revealed the truth to her, Yelena’s journey took a new turn, leading her into the Thunderbolts events. The brief glimpse of Yelena in the D23 sizzle reel suggests that some time has passed since Hawkeye, as she now appears noticeably changed in appearance.

In a departure from her previous hairstyle in Hawkeye, Yelena is now sporting an above-the-shoulder cut. This change, along with a costume resembling Black Widow’s original outfit, hints that the events of Thunderbolts occur sometime after the series. Fans have also noticed this new look in Pugh’s set videos for Thunderbolts, adding to the excitement for the movie’s release.

Despite the recent upheavals in Hollywood’s production schedules, there have been numerous disruptions in the lineups. The dual strikes have caused many major releases to be delayed, with some being pushed back as far as 2026. Many had hoped that the resolution of the strike would mean a return to normalcy, but Marvel Studios has announced additional changes to their release calendar.

It wasn’t entirely surprising that the Thunderbolts’ release dates were adjusted since production had already begun before the announcements. On the other hand, The Fantastic Four has only recently finalized its cast. Consequently, fans of Marvel’s original superhero team will have to be patient as they wait for their heroes to appear in movies.

Excitedly speaking as a lifestyle expert, I must say, the anticipation for the upcoming release of Thunderbolts on May 2, 2025, is palpable! Marvel Cinematic Universe fans can hardly contain their enthusiasm to once again witness Yelena Belova in action. The buzz surrounding this film is undeniably growing, and I can’t wait to see it unfold!
