In media reports, it’s been stated that THUNDERBOLTS* has set a new record among Marvel movies for having the longest post-credits scene. This extended scene clocks in at a whopping 2 minutes and 54 seconds, surpassing the total runtime of all five mid- and post-credit scenes found in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
In this movie, you’ll find Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, and David Harbour playing the roles of Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, John Walker, and Red Guardian respectively. The film concludes with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine referring to the quartet as the “new Avengers,” and it’s followed by two additional scenes after the credits roll.
In a fascinating twist after the credits roll, we discover that the Thunderbolts are indeed living up to their reputation as Avengers, basking in the limelight they’ve earned. Meanwhile, the thrilling sequel continues with the Thunderbolts, joined by the Fantastic Four, making their journey towards Earth.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, it was disclosed by the director of the latest Marvel film that the final scene shown after the credits was initially planned to feature in the forthcoming Avengers movie.
Besides Robert Downey Jr.’s comeback to the series, viewers will also see some new Avengers teaming up with a few original ones in Avengers: Doomsday. In an interview, director Jake Schreier shared that he was indeed on set but did not direct the scene that played after the credits. He explained that this clip originated from the set of a movie that will officially start filming on Monday.
The director expressed his delight and good fortune by saying, “I was thrilled to be present and fortunate to have been there” while discussing the heated argument among the Thunderbolts at the Watchtower.
Schreier went on to express, ‘It was delightful watching your characters venture into a broader setting. Up until now, we’ve been dwelling in a self-contained universe, but it was thrilling to observe them in this new context.’
Towards the end, it’s noticeable that every person in the team has put on a fresh suit, with the exception of Bob, who continues to wear regular clothes.
When inquired, the director was rather tight-lipped and playfully suggested that he could potentially be in trouble if he spoke any more.
Right now, THUNDERBOLTS* is doing well at cinemas. The movie Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit the screens in May 2026.
