As a dedicated Marvel fan, I’m thrilled to share that this summer is going to see the MCU taking a more rugged turn with the introduction of the Thunderbolts! Recently at CinemaCon, some of the cast graced the stage to unveil a fascinating behind-the-scenes making-of featurette, offering glimpses into the exhilarating stunts featured in the movie. In this sneak peek (which you can watch below), my favorite character, Florence Pugh’s Black Widow (Yelena Belova), performs an awe-inspiring base jump from one of the world’s tallest buildings, situated in Malaysia. If heights make your stomach churn, I’d advise giving this clip a miss!
Additionally, we’ve unveiled a fresh poster for Thunderbolts, showcasing our team of heroes, slightly perplexed about something, and dressed primarily in black. However, David Harbour’s Red Guardian stands out with his red attire, reflecting the color in his character’s name.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis from Marvel Studios:
In the electrifying spectacle of “Thunderbolts”, I found myself immersed in a world where Marvel Studios gathers an unusual band of anti-heroes – Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker. After being entangled in the deadly web spun by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disheartened outcasts are compelled to embark on a hazardous journey that will challenge them to delve into the grim recesses of their past. Will this fractious gang crumble under pressure or manage to find redemption and unite as something greater before time runs out?
The remaining segment of the Thunderbolts preview showcases the team performing different tricks, but curiously, there’s no trace of “Bob,” otherwise known as Sentry, in any of these scenes. It’s possible they are conserving a significant amount of footage featuring Lewis Pullman’s powerful character for the film itself. In Thunderbolts, you’ll see Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, and Lewis Pullman. Additionally, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus will make appearances. Jake Schreier directs this action-packed adventure, which hits theaters nationwide on May 2. Ticket sales begin on April 7.
*Note: Thunderbolts is a fictional movie in this context.
